They are rare, the light pattern is different, and they look cool.

FWIW, I think the clear ebay lights with ddmtuning HID's will blow those away, and look way nicer doing it, for less than 200 bucks shipped.

That said, I wish I had a set!

I think I remember that very source saying how hard it is to find these even IN Germany.

When I said "They're worth their weight in Gold over here" I wasn't joking.

In Germany, Austria and a lot of the "newer" European States, T84 are mandatory if you want to drive your newly-imported Caprice on public roads. Something a lot of people find out AFTER thay bought a car on ebay. At that price, I'd say the buyer was rather desparate.

Forget trying to find them over here.

Having said that, I have a New-in-Box set of these, too! $2100, anyone?? Very Happy Very Happy

Yes, this is another example of a seller being in the right place at the right time.

I always joke...
When I'm buying something, it's worth a fortune...
When I'm selling something, they're a dime a dozen.
I have to laugh over the consistency of this... Mad Very Happy

Watch that 2nd set cuz on the 1st there were actually 3 bidders willing to pay $1900 (of course 1 was successful @ $2148)
Once each of those bidders has a set, the bottom will drop out & you can get them for $4-500 again (for like new condition)

Absolutely. Last New-in-Box Set I saw finally went for $ 650 after being listed twice.

Funny you say that, a couple years ago someone started a thread looking for a caprice ss dash plaque on the big forum. I had put away two of them, so I pmed the guy and we agreed to 50 bucks, which I thought was fair due to the rarity of them. Within a few days people were asking me if I had any more of them so I said the hell with it and put the last one I had on ebay. It went for $161. Wish I had bought 100 of them.

At one point, I had a set of T84s on my car. I liked them and the beam pattern was awesome. I paid $500 shipped for a new set from a dealership in Nevada while I was living in South Carolina (2001-03). In 2003 I moved to southern Mississippi and was horified how bad the drivers were. I asked State farm how they would do replacement value... they said i'd get new (US spec) headlights if anything happened.

I sold them to a guy in Florida for $850.

I never ended up getting into an accident that would have broken them, but oh well.

Now I have the Mitsubishi Diamante headlights and, while not as focused, they are brighter. and cost me about $50.

Good prediction Steve. If I had a little more "wiggle room" I definitely would have bought that second pair!
