I was looking over the members list after seeing at the bottom of the home page that we now have 289 members! But in reality we do NOT!
How would everyone feel if we deleted accounts of users that: A) No longer post or log in over a given amount of time.... say a year B) joined but never posted (and have yet to return)
Obviously there is exceptions, like for example: Member has been a member a long time, has many posts (100+) but hasn't been back in a while = KEEP Member has joined, has almost NO posts but logs in once or twice a week/month = KEEP
Member joined posted a few times but has not posted or logged on in over a year (or 6 months or whatever)=DELETE
I like the idea of the close knit we have. Crovo had posted earlier about the greatness and closeness of the group and that got me thinking. It cheapens the whole thing when we have a Ton of BS members that joined to look and never came back.
How Many members are we for real??

Sounds good to me. My situation fit your exceptions when I had my baby and was gone for a while. Why not get rid of the posers?

On some other forums I'm on (photog, urban exploring, etc) we'd regularly delete profiles and accounts that went inactive, it definitely helps tidy the place up...

I have thought about this many times. I have deleted 10 or so over the past six months. But I know there are those who lurk, but not post. There are plenty who have "0" posts. But if I delete them all we would have like 7 members.
I can go back and delete all that have 0 posts before 1/1/12. It would clear things up a bit.

It's a combination of posts AND last log in date. I say delete everyone who has 0 posts and has not logged on in over 6 months. If ppl are lurking they would still log in to check out what's happening.

I guess I don't see why it matters why the number of registered users matters even a little bit? Are we competing against somebody to have the fewest un-used accounts?

Huh. I woulda just let it be. I'm with Fishah. Why's it matter? And what if you were one of the ones that got deleted, would you come back???
The ones I deleted had join dates between between 02/09-and 09/11, and have never been back since they Joined, and a few who have not visited in two years.

Along those lines let me ask this. How many members (& I'm talking VERY active members) look through the topics as guests but do NOT log in? I see alot of "guests" online. What is the advantage to not logging in? Lurker tendencies? If your one of them (& I know who does it cuz I watch) LMK why you do that? Doesnt matter just wondering.

Steve, I usually don't log in if I'm surfing on my phone, which is pretty often at work. The way the buttons are set up on our board, the "Log out" button is just above the "view new posts" button. And on the small touch screen of my phone, with my fat fingers, more often than not, I get logged out. So I stopped logging in on the phone. Unless I want to post, then I log in.
But at home, I am always logged in.
Is that more than you wanted to know?

My online status is hidden so I'm just a constant lurker.

I was there for the big TWO-NINE
As far as Bill and Fishah asking about whats the difference if they are there or not is:
If your a member you should be actively contributing, at least something... Whether you have a B or D or not. If it wasn't important and anyone can join and not participate then why even bother with an intro or anything. It's this that makes us better than the national forum.... We are a club more than a forum. The big board is good for info and networking... This club is and SHOULD be more "driving 45 min to helpma fellow member who's in a jam" or "mod day swapping in an lt1 in a guys car in 30 min cuz you have 8 guys bustin ass"
You got guys that just come here and sell/buy Parts, but at least they contribute... Some (most) of the profiles on here that had 0 posts dont even have avatar pics. To me it shows "hey I joined your shitty club, but I won't even bother coming back" it's a slap in the face. .....my $.02

P.S. As it is a pity that on this grandiose holiday we not together
And whose fault is that? I was so mad that instead of celebrating the fourth with my ho on her knees in front of me, I had to sit around and drink beer with my buddies. How dare you? Of course, my one buddies did pass his wife around to all of us so I did get my rocks off, but that is not the point. I don’t understand what is happening here? You were supposed to be here weeks ago! The house looks like shit, I have no clean clothes or dishes, the lawn looks like a jungle…I hope you have a high threshold for pain. If I don't teach you right from the beginning, you'll never learn…
We did have some fun on the fourth – my neighbor has this really annoying cat and we caught it and shoved a M-80 up it’s rectum and lit it! It was hilarious – there was cat ass flying everywhere! Truly a special moment…
Thomas
