Fun with sensors Empty
PostSubject: Fun with sensors   Fun with sensors EmptyTue Apr 14, 2009 4:48 pm

How many have done the "oil pressure" conversion to get a functioning gauge? I picked up a sending unit for the "caprice with gauge" and just need to make time to pull the resistor out of the dash. I can't decide if I should just pull the resistor and leave it at that or try to put in the correct resistor to get the gauge reading centered. Any opinions?

Once school is finished I'm also redoing my cooling system and going with the 3-wire temp sensor. I got the sensor but now I need to track down the wire connector for it. I hear it may be the same as one of the a/c connectors? If that's true then which connector exactly?

I finished the oil pressure gauge. For anyone interested in doing it be warned that the tape used in the dash wiring harness sticks to everything but itself. I almost glued my fingers together working with that stuff.

For the sensor I ended up using a wobble 2" extension off the socket and then came off that with a 5" extension, then a u-joint, then a 10" extension which put the ratchet right out in the open with plenty of room to turn. It looked odd but worked perfectly.
