You're lucky, if I had thought about it earlier I would have bought that too! Mad

The only thing that I can think of that has only three different suspension part numbers (or groups of numbers) for all the different models is the body bushings.

cross - 9C1 9C6 (7B3) body mounts
UFO - Wagon body mounts (maybe changed to no stamp '94 and up)
triangle - all the rest (FE1, FE2, FE3, FE4. F41)

part number refernce from Navy Lifer:
http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=228460

There was a change,
Technical Service Bulletin number 43-20-01, that eliminated the lower bushings. Despite the issue date on this TSB the change must have been in effect from the start since it seems all Impalas do not have the lower bushings.

More on the 9C1 oil pressure gage.

I removed the oil pressure and fuel gage from a 9C1 cluster (bottom) and installed it in a civi cluster (middle). They just uplug, no fasteners.

A close up of the different gages.

The small display unit is where the mileage is stored. I also swapped the SS display in to the "new" civi cluster to keep the correct mileage.
The display unit is slightly different in the '94 and '95 clusters that I have taken apart. They are not interchangeable.

So the actual LCD screen is where the mileage and stuff is stored? To cool!

Looks good! How's it ride?

1/2" lower would be perfect. Wink

Rides fine, not harsh at all. I'm going to have replace the bump stops or cut them a bit.
Maybe lower wolud be OK but it's too late now and besides my low profile jack just fits. Smile

I did the caster and camber tonight. Sure is easier without rust. Toe Tomorrow. Maybe a 9C1 PCM tune too.

Maybe I'll let out the secret part number after I test 'em out a bit.

BTW the spring height spreadsheet on the big forum is close but I think it's using the wrong motion ratio. Anyone have a lower control arm out the car?

What do you need?

The distance from the bushing bolts to the center of the spring pocket and to the center of the ball joint.

Total A-Arm length ref = 15 531 (Center BJ to Center Pivot axis) (D2)

Ball Joint Ref point

Spring Pocket Ref point

Bushing Axis Ref

Spring pocket to bushing axis = 15.531-7.625= 7.906 (D1)

I tried to get the pic angle correct so you could see the ref points
The ball joint pic was a little tough because I angled it perpendicular to its mounting surface.
Bottom line is, you should be damn close with these dimensions.

Thanks Steve. So the ratio is about .5 (assuming the spring angle is 90°).

From the forum spread sheet data and my springs a stock SS with stock tires should be about 28.3" from the ground to the fender. Sound about right? With the early SS springs I was at 29.5".

I installed 750 lb. Moog 5662 springs. These have beed used on A-bodies, G-bodies, F-bodies (stock for Z28 '91-'92 ?), and S10s. They are not too expensive.

Interesting. If you've taken it for a test drive already, how do they ride? Can you get a side shot of how it sits stance wise?

They ride fine. Still not as firm as the 4th gen or #1's 3rd gen Camaro. I haven't pushed it very hard. I suspect even a highe rate spring would be fine.

It will take me a while to get a photo, it's dark when I get home from work. In the photo above the camera was held low so it's a bit misleading.

No problem. Theres no rush. I like how they sit. My setup is WAAAAY too low. I slam speed bumps and scrape on driveways all day long. I'm actually getting pretty tired of it now that I sold the L99 car. It looks neat, definitely helps the car handle and launch, but its just impractical for where Im at in my life. I just might get a set of these, swap those in, swap the rear ST lowering springs out with my stock SS ones. I don't look forward to dropping $300 on a complete lowering "kit" either.

You can find these for around $50 shipped. You can always cut them shorter.

Some of the rears I was looking at are around $70.

The front springs are Moog 5662. From what I know a wagon would sit a bit higher 'cause it has less weight on the front.

The driver's seat was rocking and it was irritating me so I thought it would be a good time to put Bonnies in. Now the passenger seat rocks but it doesn't bother me so much.

hahaha! Try driving with SS springs with about 100k miles and one coil chopped. It handles amazing. Bumps hard too tho. I'll be putting those moogs in soon along with some belltech shocks and a set of zq8's.

The wagon springs have been off almost as long as it takes some members to buy and sell a car. Smile

The Camaro springs are in. I know nothing about secret NASCAR tires.

No Caddy springs. The right side is calibrated for auto cross, I have to redo the left side.

No Miata for me. I'm waiting on a tube frame for my rat rod. I placed my order a while back.

The front now sits 1-3/4" higher than the 9C1 and that's with the taller stock tires. I'm thinking maybe Moog 80108 or 5399 for the rear.

What's the rat rod your building???? Very Happy

I'm not actually building it. I would like to. I have collected some of the big parts.

Invoke club motto here.

My version would have a six speed and a fuel injected engine.

What kinda stuff you need for it? My old man as a 34 chevy master and has tons of stuff or can source it out.
I also have friends/family in AZ, NM, and NV. Smile

I would need the body.

47 and older don't require fenders in NH.

That's cool, more like circle track racer than a rat rod, but I get the idea. Coupe's are hard to find around here. If you decide you'd like a sedan to chop up I'm only selling mine for $1000 and that includes the entire body, frame with straight axle, steering and linkage, some glass, and a few other odds and ends, already boxed the front of the frame and it's set up with chevy motor mounts and a crossmember to accept any GM tranny.

Just puttin it out there! Very Happy

Now back to "loving the SS"

Here's some doors and other stuff that I got from No Moa for the clone project.
And the instument cluster that I got from Mark. My cluster is still having problems so I'll try one more time.
