He'd prefer that as it's easier for him to get under the hood!

Now im going to get myself in trouble here. Im all american, and believe in caring for our land. and protecting our rights. I was drafted in sept 1965. I had only been out of the state of maine once. To work in conn to buy my first car (56 ford rag top pos) i went to ft lost in the woods then on to little viet nam ( ft polk). All the carnage on both sides for nothing. We never had a chance to win. All we did was lose so many good young men, and some women. FOR WHAT? This is just my pov. I never did a thing over there i was proud of. Just beause some prick says we have to kill other people. I have to leave now. Embarassed Every time, which isnt often i talk about this it really gets me mad. I really dont know if i should hit the send block or not. fck it.

I would stand with them. There in the same place i was. We all get old quick. What bothers me is the memory of the people that really have seen the killing of others, friend or foe. Have you seen what a 50 cal or even a 60 does to a body? Al ive never met you, saw you once at bill c house. If you served your country im proud of you. What i stated was my pov, thats all. And if your not a ww2 vet what we lost was for nothing. They were the men that lost there lifes but they won the battle, My hat and salute goes to the vets of ww2, but there dying off to quick to hear all there stories.and ten - twenty years from now i,ll be gone , So carry on young man with your memories from you or friends. i,ve fought for it.

Hmm, you seem bothered by Al's comment. I'm pretty sure it was nothing in response to your post nor was anything meant negatively. I've seen my share of combat and death and such, and what combat is to me, may not be combat to you. Its a different world on the frontline today. There is nothing like going head to head with insurgents through a maze of houses and alley ways. Just like in Vietnam I suppose. My hat goes off to you Sir. Vietnam was an absolute nightmare from all I've gathered over the years. My Grandfather was there and has a tough time now and then dealing with it. I hold the highest respect to anyone who has seen combat to that degree. Especially WWII vets. Ive sat with a good hand full at our VFW, and the stories they tell are amazing. Its a life changing event folks. Hold these veterans of past wars in your hearts and minds, as they will all be gone someday, replaced by newer conflicts like Iraq and Afghanistan. It escapes me sometimes that one day, my son will sit and want to hear of my experiences as I did my Grandfather. I truly believe that the only ones that will ever understand what we go through, are the brothers and sisters that you served with. 0.02 over...

Whether we agree or disagree with one another, just don't start another war over it

Well spoken. No al didnt bother me its just the loss of life that does, because of you and i, are so much difference in age.And the so much tech now days, im in the jungle with my 50 cal, shot gun by my side, and you in the wide open, What did we gain? All im stating is we cant win. You have drones we had b52 bombers, and it was a lot of wasted ammo. You had spider holes we had tunnels, rat holes. My x boss was a tunnel rat, how he ever kept his mind i,ll never know. All he carried was a 45. Im to fcking old to have to relive the senseless killing for nothing. Embarassed

I hear you, and understand as far as I can. I respect all that you've done and am sorry for its plague on you today. Senseless killing is true in most cases. But I'm afraid it will never stop. Who knows what we'll be invading next year for whatever hidden reason.
