| Subject: Parts lookout- 71-76 GM "Passenger Car" wiper arm (driver's side) Mon Oct 10, 2011 6:58 pm | |
| This is a long shot, but if anyone sees a car similar to my '74 in a yard anyplace, could you let me know and if possible inform me if the wiper arms are any good? My driver's side broke, the sliding clip that locks it on the shaft is held in by a tab that's sort of pressed/riveted on, and that fell apart. That tab also holds two springs down on the underside to give the arm tension against the windshield. Seems it would be easier to just swap on another one. This type of wiper arm has a secondary smaller arm that tilts the wiper blade at an angle as it wipes the windshield, like on a bus, etc. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOS-LH-Wiper-Arm-GM-Chevy-Impala-Caprice-71-72-73-76-/300510199831 That's the kind I am looking for, but 90 bucks plus shipping is galactically overpriced. I can use anything (in good working order, still spring loaded) from a 71-76 full size "Passenger Car" (that's what they called them) B, C, or E body. Caprice, Impala, Lesabre, Electra, Catalina, Bonneville, Grand Ville, Delta 88, 98, Deville, Riviera, etc. They all use the same windshield, even the FWD Eldorados and Toronados. I guess the convertibles use a different arm due to their different windshield shape, but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance! | |
