I guess I will chime in here. I was hoping someone with more knowledge would have by now. The Hotchkis bump stops are black rubber and shaped like a bullet. They are fine to use with the springs. I know the ZQ8 stops almost hit the frame of my 94 ss, while they had more room in my 95 9c1. I would say they will hit with the lowerer springs, but that may be ok from what I have read. Not to sure. I would try them both and see which feels better when you get the LT1 banana running. |

| Hotchkis bumpstops will work just fine.
The ZQ8 bumpstops will simply make the ride less harsh when the car bottoms out on the bumpstops.
The ZQ8's will need to be cut to make them the correct height, but they definately make a big difference in daily driving.

| I had the ZQ8's on my caddy with the Hotchkis springs. I did not cut them. They totally got rid of the nose-dive-under-braking problem I was having. I vote for the ZQ8's. In fact, order me two sets, too. Please. | |

| Got the front end back together, and brakes all installed. Thoes Hotchkis springs are stiff. I tried to use the spring compressor and really couldn't. I installed the hotchkis bumpstops for now. I figured I could try them for a while and see what I like better.
Thanks for all of your input.

| Crovo, your caddy wasn't resting on the bumpstops? | |

It was. They were barely touching. That's how those ZQ8's are supposed to work.

| BS. ZQ8's were not touching the frame on a S10. No way was any car ever designed to have a piece of rubber as the main bump absorption tool.
If the frame is riding on the bumpstops, it completely negates the springs....

| Seems they like the ZQ8 to touch when using a SOFT comfy (caddu) spring and you dont really need that with stiffer springs. So both of you are right. Its supplementing the existing spring rate so there IS 1 best setup per auto/spring/driving combo. Good luck trying to find it. I didnt really like the idea of trimming them did they get messy when trimmed? | |

| Like he said ^^^ It's an active part of the suspension, and not a travel limiter, like the stock stops. | |

| I talked a bunch with NavyLifter and Ed Runnion about this and they were both pretty adament that there should be 1/4 to a half inch or clearance between the frame and the ZQ8 bumpstop.
I paid for progressive lowering springs (Vogtland). Resting on the bumpstops make the $200 springs become secondary to a $20 piece of rubber. My lowering springs would no longer be progressive rate, and when the car was on the bumpstops it would have very little travel to absorb bumps and would have difficulty keeping the tires planted on the ground during racing.

They did not get messy when cut.
