PostSubject: Anyone know a decent Line-X dealer in the area?   Sat Jul 02, 2011 10:40 pm

My truck has the factory painted bumpers that are notorious for getting paint chips and then rusting, the rear on the truck has already been replaced under warranty by the previous owner.

I got a quote by a Maaco (lol) to redo my F/R bumpers together for 300 bucks, that includes taking them off, prep, putting them back together and on the truck, etc.

But, I don't know how they're gonna come out since they've been rusted and I'm sure the metal is pitted, and I think once metal oxidizes once, it's just more likely to come back again when you're dealing with basic paint, even if you grind it down to bare metal and treat it.

I have seen pictures of trucks that have Line-X applies to the bumpers, a newer kind that supposedly stays glossy and doesn't fade. I think it's Line-X Xtra or something?

I just don't want to deal with paint chips and all that anymore if I'm spending money to fix the problem now, so I'm highly considering this option. I'd ONLY be doing the black painted part of the bumpers. Any opinions? I'm searching for a local Line-X place too, to no avail...

Richardson's Garage over in North Reading does Rhino Linings. My dad sprayed them while he was out of work and he did some pretty cool stuff with them. Like blowing glitter in them to give it an almost metal flake look., it looks really cool.

I looked at the Rhino Linings, some look good and some don't, I think I'm still going to aim for Line-X Xtra because it doesn't fade and none of the other spray-ons offer the "Xtra" (some deal with Dupont I guess)

There is a Line-X place in Woburn I will ask at this week, it's right near 128 on the south side, sort of near Washington St, Mishawum Rd, etc. Wheeler St?

There are places in Portsmouth and Hudson that apply it as well, but I read reviews of them getting overspray on people's trucks and slacking on a few aspects of the job, so I'll likely pass. We'll see.

Brett probably hasnt done much work in his shop for YEARS but I bet he would still spray one, he still has the display bed outside lol.

And he's damn good at spraying rhino's and paint! Too bad he doesn't do much now.

Ya...I dont really know either, I thought there was a landscaping company out back now.
Never knew the history enough to ask.
Does Brett live in the ranch right next to the tire bay door?

Yup, that POS nissan truck that's in there sometimes is my dad's old beater lol. RUSSSSSSTEDDD!!!!!

But you are right about the landlord part, he mostly just sits around and goes up north all the time, fixes the broken stuff. He's hard to get in touch with because hes in and out all the time. He was actually supposed to do the roof on the caprice but we couldn't find him to bring it over so I went to a different place.

I have a local place here who did a pissah job on my truck bed including over the rail perfectly strait, highly recommend them. Stan's in Keene, nh. If you make that big of a drive let me know and we can grab lunch or something since I work down there now.
