This really, REALLY pisses me off. I'm off to find instances of GM pulling this shyt now as well, I know they were putting Chinese engines in the Pontiac Torrent and Chevy Equinox a few years ago. I'm dumbfounded as to the amount of lemmings in this country who put up with this BS and write it off to "Oh, we live in a global economy now...yeah...yeah I'm gonna go eat Cheesy Poofs and play video games now, I don't care...yeah..."

I seriously study the country of origin of EVERYTHING I buy, and if there is a domestic/Canadian counterpart, I buy it. Some of my friends buy Blue Point tools from the Snap on guy at work and try to profess to me that they're good because they paid a ton of money for them, yet they're made in China. Everything made over there is of the SAME quality, no matter the price.

the Equinox shares the same plant as the Suzuki XL7 ....... and the same motor and trim pieces including the steering wheel.

........ Are you even surprised anyways? big corporation's needs to save a buck too! Surprised

....... and who cares if fords are falling apart, pretty sure no one on here is upset over this......

It won't harm ford one bit. Most of the truck/mustang owners are the "ford can do no wrong" group and will buy any POS they pump out with a blue oval on it. Still sick that they tried to use chineese junk.

See now if I can compromise and like their products why cant they just shut up and admit that GM has some great stuff going on too.

Yeah, that's why I didn't want a newer Tahoe, lol. Either way that doesn't bother me as much (it being partially Japanese) if it is. China should not be patronized like it is right now, our economy has such a negative cash flow it's ridiculous...
Are you talking about the current Equinox or the original one? I know the original was the one with the Chinese crate engine. I wonder where my radio in my truck was made. At least I can be comforted by the fact my Caprice and the Impala are domestic.

Didn't GM build the Impala in Framingham?

My Impala was built in Tarrytown actually, the plant was torn down in the early 90s I think, around the same time Framingham closed. It was next to the Tappan Zee bridge. Framingham was supposed to build the plastic bodied APV minivans, but the city kept harassing GM over stuff and the company decided to give them all the finger and close the Framingham Assembly. It's some big auto auction place now. I think Framingham used to make the A-Body FWD cars, Cutlass Ciera, Century, etc. Forget what else, I guess they used to make the midsized GM RWDs back in the 60s and 70s?

Framingham Assembly is that big gray building on the left if you're heading towards Boston on the Worcester-South Station line right?

Its at Loring Drv & Western Ave. I heard it' just a HUGE auction house now.
Opened in 1947. Closed summer of 1989. M. Dukakis vs Tony Colonna (town DPW politician) battled over the land use, and may have precipitated it's premature closure.
Buicks, Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, (BOP) & Chevrolets were variously assembled there.

Our family spent several years living in Framingham, and many of my neighbors had parents that worked at the plant.
I still remember a friend I went to school with a few doors down from our house father came home with the spankin new Toronado BEFORE they were available to the public!
His dad was some big-shot in GM management.
I was absolutely in love with that car, used to spend more time there in the hopes of getting a ride in it.
