| Since we've been pretty lame as a whole this year, we should set up a few things to look forward to this season. Mod day(s)? Street Night at NED? Test and Tune at NED? Cruise? Foodie get-together?
As always, I could host a mod day. Have a pool and a BBQ grill, so it's wife/GF and kid friendly!
C'mon guys. Let's get this year in gear!

| I am a foodie, so there you go. I would suggest that huge cruise night that was in Nashua but I hear it's been stifled by the powers that be for this year? I'd like to start hitting up some different cruise nights! | |

| Hey, I didn't mention any names or anybody's car. It was a joke. I just prefer to watch someone else work instead of me doing it (right or wrong). http://nh.craigslist.org/zip/2424182573.html | |

| - A cruze up the Mt Warshington Auto-Road would be the best.
However, the last two times I drove all that way up to the base entrance (and on the nicest of summery days) BOTH times they had the road closed due to "Treacherous Weather Conditions".
Apparently there were high winds, ice and snow covered roads just a few miles up. GATE CLOSED.
Needless to say, I was WICKED pisst.
The last time I actually drove all the way up to the summit was in like 1984. -

| Has anyone done that Cathedral Ledge near N. Conway? I remember when I was little, my dad mistakenly turned onto the road with our family's '85 Bronco, and had to tow a 10K pound camper all the way up to the top because we couldn't turn around. Then at the top, there was a circle, thank god. Then we had to drive all the way back down. Fortunately the trailer had it's own electric brakes. | |

Whats wrong with your brake system? Is it a maintenance issue or it's system's design limitations? Very few modern cars have such inadequately designed brake systems that a careful decent down even Mt. Washington's auto-road is not possible. The faster your vehicle speed down the auto-road, the faster heat will overtake your brake's heat sink threshold and subsequently succumbs to a deadly "fade>crash" scenario. Your rotor's heat sink capacity is fixed by virtue of it's mass, so the rate at which heat is loaded into your rotors, based on the limited actual mass of the rotors, plays a huge factor in safety. There are many cooling stops on the way down the mountain road to give your rotors time to rest and cool back off. Time is your friend. Braking performance is basically a thermodynamics equation of converting the kinetic energy of the mass (your car's weight) times it's velocity (your speed) into heat (hot rotors) within a measurable elapsed time. For every doubling of your speed, the kinetic energy is quadrupled (squared). At 25 MPH, you generate X heat. Then, at 50 MPH, your generate 4X heat (FOUR times that same heat) to stop the same weight vehicle in the same amount of time. So descend more SLOWLY and stop to REST more often. Also a transmission in good working order will allow you to select a lower gear for engine braking. Get some EBC Yellow Stuff pads and full thickness (full weight) rotors (new if possible) and you WILL be UNSTOPPABLE! I guess that was an unfortunate choice of adjectives, but you get the idea!

| Thanks for the braking system theory this morning. I know all that. But, my brakes are toast from autocrossing and such, and I have a Vette 13" setup for the front and built disc rear waiting to go in, just haven't had the time. | |
