PostSubject: FS: 1996 Impala SS DGGM 105k with extras    Wed Jun 01, 2011 1:19 pm

EDIT:
$5000 even before it goes to Craigslist next week- I want it to go to someone that will actually want it instead of part out.

I have been thinking about this for a while and its becoming a real difficult decision. I spent a lot of time in this community before and it was amazing. I can do the work and ride the summer out then trade it in or sell it - or I can sell it now. 1996 DGGM Impala SS with about 105k miles at last check. Car was never driven in winter and stored inside.

Its been in storage for 7 years. When I put it away it ran fine and the next season I needed to move it but it didn't have spark. I'm thinking its just the opti/battery but as you know it can be anything. What I know it needs; battery, fluids/filters, front end work (it just tracked bad on the highway). The AC didn't work but I had replaced the compressor/lines - just didn't get it recharged so that would need to be looked at. One window was off the rollers too.

Little background on the car itself (it ran perfect when put away);
Sunroof
GM 845 cam w/ springs/lifters
SVO 30# injectors
52mm Throttle Body
ODB1 PCM with pcmforless programming (I also have an ODB2 Ed Wright tuned PCM)
SLP converter
Transgo stage 3 shift kit
K&N cold air intake
Edelbrock shorty headers
ATR quad 2.5" T304 exhaust (I removed and still have the rear silencers - in their place I just put 2.5" straight with turndown)
Accel 300+
160* stat
Mez electric water pump
Brakes were new (2 months old) performance friction pads with Autospeciality (I think) rotors with ATE blue fluid

HA rear sway bar (single best mod done to the car period)
Fbody front sway bar
Bilstein shocks (I don't remember which ones, the popular set for 'not too stiff' and stock height)
BMR lower control arms (not positive if I did the uppers too)

Triple gauge pod with Autometer Ultralight gauges - all electric but not installed; Fuel pressure, oil pressure, temp
Alpine CD head unit with a 1/2DIN physical EQ
It currently has Infinity Perfect 6.5" speakers in the front - I want to keep these or we can talk about them but I will leave the 6.5" adapter plate
It also currently has RF amps wired in which I will be taking. You can use whatever amp you please but I will leave the wiring (3 sets RCAs, power, ground and speaker wire already run)
Viper alarm with both key fobs
Upgraded headlight harness (I forget who made them back then but it is *high* quality using only the best parts) with 80w low and 100w high beams
Carpeted trunk side protectors

Parts that I know I have that go with it:
Bbody factory service manuals
Walbro 255LPH fuel pump
set of spark plugs
Aluminum heads - complete from a '95 Fbody
Almost all stock parts except exhaust
Export pipes (I'm pretty sure the O2 sensor bungs are welded in)
O2 sims
I know I had some of the corvette fuel rail covers but think I have some nice aluminum ones on now - or ready to go on

I know that I am missing something too. Probably a lot of things!

Some old pictures from an old digital camera

Questions? Let me know - Gregb (at) dea.net

$5500 takes it! Reasonable offers considered

Lowering - I really want it go to to someone that really wants the car and wants to keep it in the community. I know Bill has seen it and can at least speak to what he saw then - few other guys that were active at the time too.

Title is in hand

Man, if I had the money and wasn't selling my SS, I'd be all over it.

Guys, this IS a nice car. One of the better ones from back in the day when we were all just figuring out the mods. Smile

Thanks Bill! I know its a steal and someone will end up making out with it for sure. It needs some work but thats clearly built into what I'm asking for it.

Carfax is clean too. 2 owner car and I'm the 2nd owner. I can send the carfax page print as a .pdf for free or you can get/pay for your own Smile

Things I forgot and things I found in a list:
Impala valve stem caps and I also have a key fob with the valve stem cap tightener
I know I did the antenna switch mod
AIR delete
home plate delete with a nice aluminum puck
LT4 starter
3.5" MAF
the Extra deep trans pan
Valve springs are the Comp 983-kit springs
hardened 'pink' pushrods
FPP 1470 header gaskets
Ball joints were done at ~75k
SUM-G1590HS 9/16 in. stainless steel header collector bolts
ARP-400-1201 Chevy: 262-400, 3/8 in. diameter, .75 in. under head length, 12 point header bolts

Bump - the replacement is here and the Impala needs to be sold Sad

I didn't venture too far from the big 4 door v8 but I did end up across the pond with a couple turbos and an extra set of wheels powering it...

He is right that you need to put the pink coolant in. But he's also getting hosed on the price if he's paying $35/gal. Like I said, I paid $14/gal for VW oem coolant.

VW and Audi use the same coolant. G-12. It looks like pink lemonade. But sure doesn't taste like it... Suspect No

LOL!
should have offered you my S6 Very Happy

if you ever have a problem, let me know. My friend Lee is an RS6 specialist.
He's actually building an 800hp RS6 motor to put into a B7 RS4 with an 01E 6speed manual.. He's out of Gloucester.
His build is featured monthly in Eurotuner (which is a garbage magazine, btw...)

Um, that's a horrible suggestion. If anything upgrade to G12+

G11 in a post 97 car will cause accelerated heater core failure.

I did a full flush and use Dexcool though. But my system came with g11.

Lol what? First i've heard of G12 gumming an engine. And replacing it with green coolant is just stupid. Can you do it? Sure. Should you? Well... I suppose if you really like visiting your mechanic you can. And the reason you're paying $35 is because you're going to the $tealership. Theres your problem.

The S6 looks pretty nice! Funny you mention Lee - I actually had him do a full once over on it 2 weeks ago! Pretty clean bill of health, few small things so I'll be going back.

The Impala is still looking for a nice home

Lee is the man. Knows more about those RS6 motors than anyone else in the area too.
Enough to stick one in a car it wasn't designed for, that's for sure Smile
