OTC 4000e diagnostic scan tool

Has anyone ever used one of these? My friend just bought a house in Deerfield NH and I helped him load up a bunch of his crap in Beverly for the move. He had this thing complete in the case from when he went to New England Tech and said he'd never use it, went to throw it in the "crap" pile (there were a pair of crinkle finish Moroso alum. valve covers in there too) then my other friend, a shop foreman at a car dealership, is like "Yeah, a car that isn't OBD2 isn't really worth fixing..."

He was tossing stuff out left and right and I insisted on taking this home in exchange for my help, it has connectors for Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc. I had heard of them before, namely people using them to scan Turbo Buicks and stuff but generally all kinds of OBD1 cars.

Just wondering what I can do with this thing on my cars...I still have to mess with it and read the instructions (I think I saw them in there). I'm assuming it can do more than just scan trouble codes?

Good to know it can go on ebay if I don't use it...

Never used that one myself, but if it can scan OBD I its worth having. I bought an autoxray one years ago and don't think I could own an OBD I car without it. Monitoring mode kicks ass.

What a dink... Thats a nice scanner. A buddy of my father has one, he scanned my Grand (sl)Am with it once. Nice unit.

Btw, I'll take the valve covers.

Unfortunately I didn't take them, I'da just given them to you! He threw one in the trash and the other away in NH after using it as a small parts caddy, one had a K&N breather on it as well. They were all dirty and the crinkle was peeling in spots but who cares they were SBC cast alum valve covers!

Good to know, I actually looked in the box this morning, it has all the datalink connectors but only the Pathfinder 1993 and older cartridge. I looked on eBay and apparently you can get all the other stuff easily. I'll prob. read the manuals tonight if I'm bored and figure out what exactly I can do with it.

Even the datalink cables have a use. I'm sort of looking for one. Mine doesn't have the OBD1 connector.
