| Time to part with one of the 2 last impala ss. I need to buy a good car to run around in, and heidi can use on long trips, Probably be a jetta.
So i'm tossed up between the Green 95 with 125k,miles which will have the stock suspension in it. I think i'm going to pull out all the Hotchkis stuff. The rear will be 373, as soon as is get it back from the shop.
Or the 94 ss, with 107k with all the goodies, 96 console, z28 cluster, 373 rear.
I don't know, at 4 per gallon, we need something better on gas. I really hate having to think about it.

| Yep, def the '94. And yes on the Jetta. They really are good cars, just don't get a turbocharged one. More hassle than they are worth. | |

| You'll be MUCH better off with an accord or camry.. Euro trash sucks. Wiring problems, they're a nightmare.. | |

| Tonight we went to the local used car dealer, he had tons of subarus. I tried a pearl white 07 5 speed. Nice car, 75k miles.smokers car. Heidi didn't think much of it. The then had an 08, spoiler, cloth, keyless. 38k miles. We drove that and loved it. 4cylinder non turbo. Still very peppy. 15,999 is more than I want to spend, but I have to think about payments and would a car with 75k plus really be worth a 5 year loan. No. They also have an 09, 28k for 16,999. It was more scratched up. I'm gonna see about getting approved for a loan, and set out searching. I want the Subaru for the awd and the mpg 22 town I'm told, and they are safe for the kids and Heidi to use. I looked at 2 hondas, and a hyundi, both very nice, I just can't stomach them. And my ex works at the hyundi dealer, I'd rather bike.
Did I mention she's black! Dark beautiful black.

| I was getting 22-23mpg on mostly backroads in my turbo car, not driving nicely. Mileage was less on the highway. | |

| Nope, just with the flow of traffic, so 75-80. My mileage dropped to 21-22 on highway tanks. I think it's because it's around 3K rpms at those speeds, in boost territory, so the timing and fuel is up there. Not a concern on an NA car though. I'd imagine you'd see 25-6 on the highway at normal speeds. Closer to thirty at the speed limit. | |

I used to get 22-24 mpg in my lowered 9C1 with 3.08 gears, a herter performance tune and 93 octane gas. Ths was before E10 fuel, but I'm saying that if a B-body can get 22 and a newer car that costs $10k+ only gets 5mpg better doesn't seem like a good deal. You can buy a LOT of gas for $10k (2000 gallons at $5/gal). That's 40,000 miles at 20 mpg!

| I don't run highway that much, a b-body at 20+mpg around town. Not any of them I own. | |

| Okay. My 9C1 in current form get 18 driving on rural hilly backroads of Maine. Tuned PCM for 87 octane fuel, running the E10 crap they force us to use, 3.42 gears, and 225/70R15 tires on steel wheels.
I lose 1mpg just by switching to the 255/50R17 tires/wheels.
These B-bodies are far cheaper/easier to maintain, insure, and pay excise tax on.
They are harder to parallel park.
Food for thought.

| I average 30 miles a day, usually in 3-4 mile increments, car never warms up. Got 10 in the 94.
Already bought the Subaru and love it. Might even sell both impalas. Subaru still have factory warranty and extended. Fill up, was $26 less then the impala. Certainly If I didn't want a newer more economical car, I would have used the impala, but I did, and I did, and it's so much fun to drive.
As a member here said once, the are 15y/o cars, It's time for a change.

| Cool. I didn't mean to bug you, just playing devil's advocate. It seems like everytime somebody get out of the B-body scene, they later regret it.
The newer, smaller cars sure are nimble, aren't they?
