| yup they were the ones from malden CL hahahaha they are free of any cracks or chips their is normal scuffing and a small dab of what looks like white paint which will come right off. i waited til i bought them before i spoke about them on here because i have been searching for a nice set for over a year now. I am going to buy one of those "head light lense clean-up kits" and my new tail lites will be mint. i was pondering the thought of having them tinted lightly with the exception of where the reverse lites are for a nice clean look. | |

| All you need is a few grades of wetsanding paper, go up to like 2000 grit then polish them with PlastX polish and a powerball mini, they will come out AWESOME.
You could use Niteshades or Testors model car "window tint" spray which I used on my truck, but I think they really come out best when you just have a body shop hit them with clear and a few drops of black mixed in.
I saw those and meant to post them here, but I was on my way out the door for Florida lol. I think I "know of" the person that was selling the taillights too, they live a few blocks from my house. Some crazy kid named Eddie who used to have this 76 Impala that looked like it had been to hell and back.

| i have heard that some custom paint shops will "bake" something similar to powdercoat onto the tail lite lense | |

| i just used the mr. clean magic eraser to clean them up real quick. they came out good. it even removed the white "paint" scuff marks. the last car they were on must have bumped a white picket fence or sumthin. im gonna install them this weekend along with my bucket seats woo hoo :-) | |

Can anybody clearly tell me if there is such a thing as an LTZ optioned tail light and if there is, what is the difference between "it" and the "other" 1991 & 1992 tail lights. Also, I don't know exactly what other physical differences there are in the rest of the LTZ package. I have read that this model was the predecessor to the SS Impala model 94-96. The problem is that I've seen so many modified grills, tail lights, headlights, interiors in photos on the internet that I don't know what was truly original. I was so deep into my "BOXY" world that I never looked too closely at the bubbles until I bought my 96 9C1 a couple years ago. I am just trying to get up to speed with some of you 91-96 guys. What would be REALLY nice would be some one knowledgeable to describe ALL the actual differences and POST PHOTOS if possible. -

| The LTZ is similar to the Caprice LS. The LTZ removed the stand up hood ornament and added a flat hood badge with a bowtie saying Caprice. Under the hood was the tbi 350. On the front fenders were "LTZ" badges. Inside was a fully loaded leather interior with the digi/analog 9c1 cluster. It said "LTZ" on the dash. Those are the only differences. The suspension might have been better than regular Caprices.. swaybars and stiffer springs. Maybe a posi rear, not positive. Wheels, grill and tail lights are the same as any Caprice. LTZ hood badge in place of stand up ornament. | |

That's what it looks like to me as well. Problem is, when trying to purchase the 91-92 tail lights, I was asked to choose (A) or (B). Then I was shown the tail light guideline comments: [A] & [B] fit in pairs; difference is LTZ option. A ---------- > CAPRICE 91 Sdn, exc.LTZ . . . . . . . . . . CAPRICE 92 Sdn B ---------- > CAPRICE91 Sdn, LTZ Iv'e looked at many photos and see no difference, But I have never held either one in my hand. According to the Sylvania Lamp Replacement Guide, all years take the same 2057s, only the high mount brake light bulb changes. Perhaps it is a change in the bulb socket piece? I have heard that the LTZ tail light has a blacker appearing lens perimeter. GM also distinguishes between regular & LTZ grills, where the LTZ is said to have black paint in the center area. I have also seen chrome grills that do not have the letters "C H E V R O L E T" molded in to the upper surround below the hood emblem. Any thoughts on this stuff? B.T.W. I really like the olds grill. I come from an olds family & was carried home from birth in a 48 "Woody wagon. -

| The LTZ has a few other differences, the grille IS different, it's got darker paint in all the vents/gills. I think the 91 LTZ or the '92 maybe had the 305, either the 350 wasn't released until later or it was optional I forget. I went to look at one once years ago that had a 305. It also had the bigger 225 or 235 tires, stiffer suspension, and other heavy duty items, but I don't know if these were part of the package. I know the 93's had a different darker colored body side molding. Maybe the 91 and 92. Not sure. Fishah probably knows everything. lol
The 93-96 grilles all said CHEVROLET on them, the previous ones were smooth. I don't know if the 93 LTZ grille said anything on it, but if it did I'd imagine that would be a rare grille to find in a junkyard.

| So really the LTZ was almost like the 9C1 just with leather seats and lace rims. | |

| My dad and all his friends always had a cutlass in their driveways while I was growing up. My first car was a cutlass and my first tattoo was an Olds rocket. - Matt Trakker wrote:

I didn't know there were LTZ's available with the 305 engine and I also didn't know the grill was a bit different. As for the tail lights I really am not sure if they are darker or not. I've noticed that, LTZ's with big black wall tires.

Lol, I'm no authority though. It was funny, the car we went to look at was only like 500 bucks, silver, very solid, and ran nice, but had no front bumper, a smashed windshield, I think a bent core support, and there were random parts in the interior. The guy was in Waltham and had this big piece of property close to 128, he let us "test" it out back, we felt like Ace Ventura trying to see where we were going. I do remember it had this info center thing for low washer fluid, etc. under the HVAC control.

The 93-96 grilles all said CHEVROLET on them, the previous ones were smooth. I don't know if the 93 LTZ grille said anything on it, but if it did I'd imagine that would be a rare grille to find in a junkyard. I spent some time on the Heritage site for 91-93 LTZ info, & found that they included an extensive Motor Trend article celebrating how the LTZ Caprice won the "MOTOR TRENDs CAR of the YEAR AWARD" for 1991. However, I looked in the options sheets for all 91 Caprice models and LTZ was not listed at all. It is possible that the LTZ "model/option" was not a firm commitment from GM until later, after this body of material was published. For example; 235/70R15 tires were std on the LTZ in the Motor Trend write-up, but that size is not listed at Heritage for any models, including the 9C1s. 1991=Many upgrade interior features were std, instrumentation, pwr dr locks, windows, remote elec trunk release, 60/40 pwr seats w/arm-rests, upgrade cloth OR leather, HD A/C, larger cooling system, 9C1 disc/drum brakes, FE2 suspension & HD shocks, larger sway bars, stiffer springs, only the 305 LO3, but has the 3.23:1 rear with optional limited slip, and "subtle styling features" like the dark insert grill, tail lights-(unspecified differences), hood plaque, body moldings, ext LTZ badges, 235/70R15 on 15x7 wheels. 1992=Same as above including cruise control, keyless entry, reading lamps, police steering ratio, still with (non-9C1) power team "C" 305 WITH 3.23:1 rear only. NO 5.7L LO5. 1993=Same as above but now, ONLY with 350 (9C1 5.7) and 3.08:1 rear ratio. Base models had the 2.56:1 rear, except for trailering pkg. I may have misunderstood or overlooked much info here (Heritage Center Archive) nor do I know how accurate or comprehensive that single source is either. I went ahead and bought matching pairs of LTZ & NON-LTZ tail lights off the internet. The tracking numbers sent to me indicate that they're on the their way & I will post photos of any differences, if found. My stock 96 9C1 lenses are dark and the aluminum trim bezel is pretty crusty and pitted, so I also bought two brand new OEM lenses to repair the originals. -
