PostSubject: My new ride   Wed Jan 05, 2011 10:18 am

Now that the wagon is gone, I needed something more practical, and newer, so I came across this:
1999 Regal GSE Supercharged. 157k, and loaded with every option.
Billy likey

18" ASA wheels I picked up for next to nothing for the summer

Nice looking car, bet it moves a bit better than my riv with how much less it weighs. Watch those lower intake manifold gaskets! They claimed my Riv's original engine.

LOL. It was a lot cheaper to transfer the plates. Cost me 49 bucks total for the transfer.

Numbers are 240hp/280ft lbs of torque.
The wagon could take it off the line all day long, but it has it beat every where else. cheers

Done them a couple of times, not a bad job (not counting the time spent praying the manifold seals)
Do they still put the belt around the motor mount?

If you were going to get a W-body, I'm glad you got this exact one. Very Happy

I bet with that mileage, the gaskets have been done already.

I like it!

It looks like it has been done. I now need to put brakes all around. Pads and rotors, and replace the evap vent purge valve, color sand and buff the paint, and she should be ready to start modding.

Daughter has had 2 GTPs as DDs .. A new 04 and a 07. 04 had a little over a 100k .. Gaskets went when the car only had 20k or so.. Under warrenty.. 07 has a little over 150k.. Brakes, tires, and oil changes.. That is it.. Like I said they are/were driven hard !! Nice dependable cars !!

If the car needs brakes, look around before you spring for replacement rotors - the later models had both larger diameter rotors, and some had both larger and wider rotors that can be retrofitted. Some only need to use a different caliper bracket, which are cheap. Wider will need the corresponding calipers, but those can be had for short money too, not that you work near an auto parts store or something.

Most of the upgrades offered below just alternate GM parts they are packaging as a kit.

LS1 F-body stuff can be retrofitted too - just get the parts away from Jim before he realizes what you're up to.

After seeing these things in action at the dragstrip on youtube, I really think I will consider one for a future DD. I had no idea they were that quick! There are people that dump thousands into Mustangs and wind up with a car that runs the same times...

My understanding is. 5 simple mods: Headers, Tune, 3.4" pulley, CAI and delete the u-bend in the Exhaust, and you are in the mid 13 second range. cheers I guess stock is mid to high 14s. Arrow
