PostSubject: Time to put the cards on the table!   Sun Dec 19, 2010 12:00 am

One of the things that everyone likes about our little group and forum is that there is no drama. Well that was the case until a week ago, and then came "wagongate'. What bothered me more than who ended up with the wagon, was that good guys were getting trashed and piled on. That's not good. What I knew came across the forum. As I posted, I had a somewhat similar situation happen to me. I believed Bill M. made an innocent mistake, I went to bat for him. I also know that he has been kicked around pretty good in life the last couple of years. I'm sure 2K at Xmas time looked good.

I also understand how Tim and Glen were really upset. I know Glen has wanted that car for a long time and Tim wanted to get back into the wagons. I always told Big Paulie, that is my favorite wagon.

Ruffled feathers were just starting to smooth. Then tonight Bill M. has a posting looking for some winter tires for the wagon. I couldn't believe it, nor could quite a few other guys. I thought it was a joke. I checked with a couple other guys and they confirmed that Bill still had the wagon. I also discovered Bill's posting for the tires is now gone.

I don't know if someone thinks it's funny, but it isn't. We all thought the wagon was sold. Bill told Tim and Glen first come, first served. Bring the 2 grand. But Bill later discovered he was PayPal'd by a third party, so it's sold and don't bother coming.

To be honest with you, I don't know what to believe anymore. I have my doubts that there was a third party.

Like someone said, it is only a car. That is true, but Tim and Glen took a pretty good beating, that may not have been deserved.

How about some truth.

I'm sure this is going to bring some BS, but I know there was no "PayPal deposit". I wasn't born that long ago but it wasn't yesterday. If he wanted to keep the damn thing all he had to do was man up and say so. We're all friends here there is no need for anyone to tell tall tales. There were times I needed money and the thought of selling my Caprice came to mind. Instead of jumping the gun and listing it for sale, I thought about it for a few days and ended up not needing to sell my car. I didn't tease a bunch of people thinking I was going to sell it. I have many friends who are lined up to buy my car when I want to sell it and I wouldn't dare tell them it was for sale unless I was certain because I would not want to disappoint anybody.

There have been a few times where I listed my van for sale (every time Bill M listed his wagon for sale and when Paul was selling it) trying to come up with the money for a certain wagon. This time I already had a car listed for sale that I originally got to try and flip for profit because I have no job I have to make money somewhere. I had a bite on my Z for a certain price. The guy said he was going to think about it. I saw the price change and I called the guy back and made him an offer he couldn't refuse. I offered him the car for several hundred dollars less than I was asking and threw in my low mileage 4l60E I was saving for my Caprice. I didn't end up purchasing said wagon. I lost out on potential profit, and I lost my low mileage transmission because I gave it to the buyer to make him take the car that night so I could be the "first one at the door with $2000" the next morning. I did not want to do this originally but Bill told me he WOULD NOT hold the car for a day or so until I heard back from the guy. I asked him if I went there the next morning with $2000 in my hand if I could take the wagon and he said YES. So I pulled the trigger on the deal and a half hour after my Z left on that guys trailer the bullet backfired in my face. "You have plenty of cars."

this shit happens all to much.... not just here, other private sales and dealers too.

the third party was real... and it would of been a real good home for the wagon, but its x-mas so expect the unexpected ya know.....

and tim your right it dont matter how many you got, id have a whole salvage yard if i had the room too.

but in the end where all grown men who get past shit like this, now were a lil educated for the future.

funk it.

Well, if the 3rd party was real, and had to back out for some reason, why didn't you just man up and say hey, you know what, the depositor bailed, tim are u still interested? That's the man thing to do.

You have said many times Billy your tired of the car. You don't want a 15 y/o car and your are concerned about your job and what have u. And saying you will never list it ever again is retarded. It's still on craigslist and u still want to sell it.

I feel bad for being a dink on the other thread, but as I said to a couple of the guys, i feel bad, but im not sorry. I spoke my mind, and that's how I am. I'm for real, I don't play games.

I was in the same situation, my t56 set up, I had a deal made (twice) the last guy paid me some $ and guess what, I still have the kit still sitting here. I was only selling it to buy or get the wagon. But decided, f it I'm going to put it in my SS. And I gave back the deposit last week.

We all go through ruff times, I personally have had many over the brink how will I survive moments, sold almost all my prize hobby stuff when I got divorced to keep my cars, it happens, and we make hasty decision that we will regret.

We are all a family, you should Not be afraid to tell us that it didn't sell, I was glad it did, so u could settle up your debts and I hoped it would go to a good home. And maybe it still will.

Anyway, i tried 3 times to get this wagon to restore, 3 strikes I'm out, I hope you find a good home for it.
No hard feeling, on my end anyway.

Later

It's still a big mystery who was going to buy it.... if Chris knows then I think everyone else, including the people who actually had something to do with this whole ordeal and had cash ready for you deserve to know too. All this secrecy crap makes me not even want to stick around. If it does go up for sale I will not be disappointed because I will never try to buy it again.

Thats the part I don't get. If the other person bailed, there were at least two more people here with cash in hand to drive the thing home. You'd guess it'd have gone to one of them. Look idk the whole story, and probably never will. But the whole thing seems wicked fishy to me. Its for sale, then its sold to some unknown 3rd party, now its not for sale and its suddenly unsold. Its a great looking, super rare car. I know I would love to have it. It's a shame that no one here will get that chance anymore.

People are pissed, imagine how he feels? he said he feels bad about the whole thing but damn lets just drop.. Billy I hope you keep the 1a2, i love what youve done with, you have SO much time and $$ into it.. if it DOES sell, i just hope it goes out of new england so I never have to see or hear about it again..

I don't care what anybody says I'm no push over and I speak my mind. It's not about the car anymore you are missing the point Paul.

HAHA yea lets try and sell it to a guy who doesn't even have the money even though I had the cash in my damn pocket. All because I have "plenty of cars" and he felt I didn't need it. Sorry I have the storage and means to keep buying every car I want to, my bad. I was going to strip that thing to stock and then sell it anyways. Razz Twisted Evil It's a dead issue. Bill is keeping the car for another week and I've lost all interest in it. It's nobodies business who was going to buy the car but a small portion of the club knows the "secret". So much for us being a "club". You guys got your own thing going on, that's cool. You can lock the thread now.

I do know who the third party was and since neither Bill or that person has decided to speak up, then it's not my place to offer up that information.

What is my business is the frequency of slanderous accusations and the plethora of derogatory comments regarding another member of our community I am seeing. Several members here have good reason to be ashamed of themselves.

A little A-B-C type information for those who aren't getting it:

I believe that things got out of hand because there wasn't a clear set of groundrules regarding the sale stated prior to the dramatic price drop that put many here into the Black Friday mentality. There wasn't any intention to cheat or deny anyone from purchasing the vehicle. It may have been handled better at the time, but hindsight is 20-20.

If I was interested in this car and wasn't fast enough to get my name in first to buy it, I sure as hell wouldn't be spending my time on here complaining. I would be treating this a second chance to purchase the car I thought I missed out on and be in close contact with the owner to see what kind of agreement could be reached. I still might not get it now - but I bet that the next time the owner considered parting with it, I would be getting a phone call instead of seeing it as a for sale post on this forum or Craigslist.

If I was the owner of said car and had tried to do the right thing by holding it for the person who thought quickly enough to skirt the forum banter and place a deposit on it using the quickest way possible, then I wouldn't be bending over backwards to give anyone who continues to direct unsavory comments my way another opportunity to buy it.

In fact, I might start to consider the principle behind the business deal and sell it to a good friend for something less that than the asking price, while making it very public what it went for, just to make it very clear to those involved that this kind of behavior is not appreciated and was not going to be tolerated.

Some people here should go back an re-read their posts and consider getting up close and personal with the delete key.

- J

Exactly
I am certainly not trying to make anyone out to be the bad guy, or make myself look the victim. The truth is the person was unable to get the rest of the funds at this time. Knowing why, I let him off the hook since he never said boo, nor would he when things did not go his way. I have heard words like shady and fishy. And they were pointed directly at me. Really? Are you guys kidding? But hey, that is fine, I have big shoulders. And after the public beating I took From someone "Who by the way said he was going to trash me on the forum", and did when he did not get his way. I do not think I would try and sell it again.
I made some mistakes with this deal. I know that. I should have layed some ground rules, but really did not think that the outcome would have became such a mess. Actually, I figured no one would bite even at the lower price, and was I was blindsided by all the intrest in it. And after the fiasco the other day, I figured It would be best not to try and repost it. It is still my only sorce of transportation, so I was trying to locate some winter tires for it til I figure something else out. Maybe I should have Outed the person who could not come up with the money. Maybe I could have started a thread about how I got screwed.

And while I am on the topic of this thread. Hey Tom. Who do you think you are? Your not even involved in any of this, but you decide to throw your hat in the ring with this thread. The funny thing is. Not one person got screwed here. Not one person.
But for the record there was a third party, and if he cares to share his name fine, if not, then fine too.

Bill,

Like I said. I don't know the whole story. I probably never will. And frankly I don't need to. It's not my business., I wasnt involved. And my comments weren't directed at you. The only reason I said "fishy" was because the whole thing just sounded weird as someone who only knew what little could be gleaned from all these threads. I'm not saying it was yours or anyones fault. I just found it weird that there were three people who REALLY wanted the car, one supposedly bought it, then they couldnt and then nobody got it and the car is still with you. Thats what I meant by fishy.

Capiche?

Peace and chicken grease.
