| OK, I have dropped dozens of trannsmissions and that is no big deal, but I have now installed mine in the 96 twice and see at least one more time coming...I think it is time to get real and get a tranny jack. I know I am a beast and all, but floor to above head with two guys is awful.
Keep you're eyes peeled, not looking to spend a lot since I will only use it a couple times a year, but it sure would be nice to have...
Thanks,
Doug | |

| Thanks, but I am looking for an automotive shop style one, that one you listed only lifts to 23" and I have a lift, so I want something that is like a 5 foot or so, pretty much looking for a used one from a repair shop.

| If you dont find what you need in a timely manner I could always fab you up a frame that works with the HF jack You could design the base yourself to include tool shelves, beer holder, whateva Just an option, cuz, I am going to owe you $, soon, I think...? | |

| You are just a wealth of Harbor Freight info aren't you! Looks perfect for what I am wanting it for. That discount link does not work, but I know they come around often. That puts the price around $160ish...very nice. As soon as I can spare that I am all over it.
Thanks,
Doug | |

| I saw one in the store yesterday and thought of this thread.
Try this link for HF coupons.
HF sends some to me but slickdeals has more.

Doug I compared that H/F unit to my source and yes that is a ridiculously low price. I get the deepest discount possible at eppy's tool club but I'm still way off, over $200 for similar tool there. Just make sure your floor is clean, flat & level, because that model trans-jack can get rather "worbally" where the feet extensions twist/flex a bit when loaded and moved on not so good surfaces. Because I always work by myself, I opted for the super low one-ton floor trans-jack. I also use it for truck DRW changes & drive-unit R&Rs. I feel safer with 8 twelve-ton jack-stands holding up the vehicle at 30" and I don't have to worry about tipping overweight transmissions from a platform 52 inches off the ground.

| They have other models. This one is "on sale" for $480. And this one is $260. And this one. http://www.harborfreight.com/transmission-stop-off-tool-98060.html They don't have the best tools but for occasional use... | |

The tranny jack adapter is on sale for $43. Brilliant! This is perfect and I will be doing ASAP. I dropped a tranny last night and caught it with my right leg and right forearm, to say that I am sore today would be the understatement of the month. Doug

I'll live, just a MONSTER back/blue on my leg and some scrapes on my arm. Stupid instants, it was like I saw a baby falling and my body went to catch it before I realized that a case would be fairly cheap to fix. Doug
