My 95 Towncar
Taken last year when a co-worker was complaining about an inch of snow.
I was reading e-mail as I waited for the town plow to come by. This stopped the complaints nicely.

The co-worker is in Greensboro NC and 1 inch of snow shuts the whole place down.

I've always wanted one of these, and I want a '95 because it's pre-emissions (in MA) but has the updated interior/lights, etc.

Kudos to keeping the six running lights on the back under the trunk lid in working order, it always drove me crazy when one of these passed me and half of the bulbs were blown.
Thanks Matt.
That is one of my pet peeves as well. How hard is it to change a bulb?
It's been a good car for the past few years. I purchased this as my DD between my first RMW and my current one. The 95's have ODB 1.5 so the ODB2 readers work. Burns a bit of oil. 1qt per 1000 mi. I am too lazy to change out the valve seals and a quart of oil is cheap enough. It's got 208K almost 209 as of this week. Bought her from a retired couple. This was their snowbird car so it's done the Florida to NH run quite a few times explaining the miles. I even drove it down to Florida two years ago. It's a really nice long distance car.

On a funny side note the previous owner replaced this with a Ford Explorer sport-track(avalanche looking thing). The wife was pissed when the husband bought the exploder home and then when he sold me the car without asking her. It was her favorite car. I have every receipt from when they purchased it. It's had all dealer maintenance till I purchased her.

The biggest problem I have had with this car besides it's anemic acceleration and a bit of rust is that it eats brakes. Even through the service history you can see it needed brakes every 25-30K miles or so.

My winter beater "the turd", had it about 3 1/2 years now. 91 Geo Prizm GSI (Corolla), 140 hp, 5-spd, 4-wheel discs. 203,000 on the clock right now. It keeps me from having to drive anything nice in the snowy crap.

Off topic, but I'm thinking about doing the beater thing next winter. How does that work in MA with plates and stuff, is there a cost to swap the plates back and forth twice a year?

That's cuz you still have the 17's on there! Throw some cheap 15" snows on steelies on the back and all seasons up front and it'll be an animal in the snow. Smile

I dont think I'll get what I'd want for it privately. Considering it will probably leave with some cheap steelies. not getting rid of my SS wheels yet. the tires have 1k on them and they werent cheap and I might swap em on to the 96. Two Caprices is getting old Shocked . I went shopping around before and some places would be willing to give me between 1900-2500. Its in good shape and has alot of the upgraded interior mods. Im gonna be looking for a 2000-2003 extended cab Z71 w/ plow package Very Happy

The car being horrible in the snow could be blamed on the wide 17" tires.. Put on some steelies with snow tires and it will feel like a whole different car.

Kayla going out in the "Snowmaster" .. probably the last look ill get at it hahaha.

affraid

Kayla going out in the "Snowmaster" .. probably the last look ill get at it hahaha.

affraid

I'll give it a try, but I probably wont find any tires/rims that wont be a rip off at this point. Questionable at best. When i drove my '94, it was great in the snow, but I didnt have to drive as much last winter. It had the 15's.

About that wrx...i bought mine new in 03, blew 3 motors 2 trannys and made 400 hp on pump gas(330whp) it sits with an exploded block under FEET of snow with 135k, that thing ate most everything on the road including its internals at near 7000rpm. for the winter im driving my 05 f350 6.0 diesel with 6spd manual, or my girls turbo legacy wagon, with a best 0-60 of 6.2 with 5spd auto.

Kid I used to work with had an EVO with the same kinda power, and it too ate up a lot of stuff, clutch, front diff, 2 transmissions, etc. I was ok until he started taking it to the drags Surprised

I'm glad the old school hub caps aren't being used in the winter getting ruined with salt and other junk. It looks too good with them and the wide whites.

I kinda like 'em. I havnt seen them on my black 9C1 yet, and I wont until I put the SS springs I have in it. But that wont be for some time.

Just swap some steel wheels with All seasons in 215 or 225 width over and be done with it, I can't believe you left those on there, my white one was barely drivable even in the rain with good 255s and SS wheels, lol.

With the 215/75 Dunlop SP60s I put on there I can plow through anything with one sandbag in the trunk, with three the car is unstoppable. Laughing

I bought the tires brand new too and my friend mounted them for me, they're not expensive in this size and are easily the best all season tire out on the market. It's like a damn snow tire the tread is so deep! I'm sure you can find a set of cheap steel wheels in the JY, maybe lace alloys as well. You might wind up dropping a few hundred bucks when all is said and done, or a little less on a whole set from CL someone's selling, but that's better than wrecking that pretty nice car going off the highway, or getting screwed on a trade-in trying to get a truck instead. You can always sell the snows/steelies to someone on here when you're done with them too.

I will say, I'm glad I have my truck back. Cool

And for those of you who had not already seen on facebook, the cougar got stuck in the driveway and I had no more room to back up and "rock the car" so I had to fire up the caprice to push it Very Happy Go chevy!

Honestly. These are the wheels I want to run on my car. Does anyone have them or know a place, you dont have to suggest a junk yard, I get it.

Black out the painted grey areas and they look like 15" SS wheels. Smile
