During the cold months I really like working in my wood shop building different things to sell. This year I am building "post office banks". I use the old antique postal doors, very nice oval brass coin slot cover and usually build them out of cherry of mahogany. All the joints are dovetailed, wood is stained then four coats of semi gloss finish is applied sanding between coats. Finish off by using a felt block and rubbing the wood out first with pumice and oil then rotton stone and oil. I complete the project by applying a nice coat of Englis bee's wax then polish her up. I apply any original post office box numbers on the glass that you desire, such as child's birth year, year of your car, year you last got laid or what ever. For Christmas this year I have built 25 out of cherry as I had the wood drying for the past 19 years in my barn. The wood came from a tree that I cut down on the farm during the summer of 91. This saved me a huge amount of money as wood is so darn expensive.
My question to you gents, does any one have any cherry, mahogany or oak boards laying around you want to sell? I want at least 7/8" or more thick and at least 4 inches wide. Lengths must be at least one foot long. I have a complete wood working shop so I can mill rough cut boards.
Many thanks and wishing you all a wonderful and safe Christmas.
