Does any one have one of those trunk light switches with the little ball in it. Mine imploded and is no longer functional. Its located on the left trunk hingeand looks like a little black barrel.

I think my car has this same problem, mine's never worked.

I'll keep an eye out for you

Is it/ was it a glass tube? If yes, that was liquid mercury inside and since gravity turns it on and off, they work great. Mine still works but it was so dirty when I got the car I did not know what it was. You may not find the exact same stock one, but maybe some one here on this site knows exactly what your part is and where to get it. I have installed them in cars under the hood and in the trunk using generic mercury switch parts and they work fine. If yours is different than that, I don't know. Perhaps the little heavy ball rolls into the path of a kind of microswitch lever?

I didn't see a mercury switch on mine, I'll have to look again. The '74 has a mercury switch for the bulb socket in the trunklid, I believe. My 93 has some wires dangling near the trunk hinge, appears one may have been sliced by mistake and I haven't figured it out.

I had a '94 that stopped working. The switch was bullet shaped inside a plastic case. On mine the wire broke off the switch, I opened it up and resoldered the wire.

Just got done doing that myself.
I think its more like a ball that hits 2 contacts (to eliminate the mercury)
But it does flex with the hinge. Be real careful how you do the final placement after repair or it'll happen again real quick
