PostSubject: Bunch o boxys   Tue Nov 23, 2010 1:16 pm

I just came from a place where boxys go to die. There was the remnence of 5.

I went to look at a 2 door body. These guys use the frames for racing, and the bodys are just cut up and scrapped. This body was suppose to be "mint". NOT. It was basically gutted, no doors, etc.

The truck lid was MINT. NON landau roof was mint. The rockers were gone for the body being lifted up. I found the nose, header, inner wells. one door (junk) the other door was used on racing.

2 of them hadn't been stripped yet.

So anyone, if anyone needs some body parts, let me now. He gave me the 2 door body for some frame parts, i'm going to salvage what i can, he also said i could have any of the other body parts i wanted for "race car funding" meaning pay by the part i'm guessing. lol

No pictures yet, this is not someplace i'd haul out a camera, he would be quite upset. bunch of old truck, macks, 70 3/4 GMC longbed rusty (im trying to own this one)

But pics will come soon.

Not much. Crank doors. And the headlights are the bucket type. I think i'm going to save the trunk lid, tailights, and cut the roof off it.

i doubt any of the doors are crank, they were loaded cars. No hoods, there were a couple inner fender wells that were good.

Somebody tell me more about aluminum hoods. Thats the first I am hearing of such a thing. Will it fit an 88 9C1? The one I have is perfect looking from the outside but the thin sheet metal underneath to the front is rotted out out, I have a perfect condition steel spare hood to replace it with, but . . . ALUMINUM, I really like that idea!

It is my understanding that the diesel model box's came with aluminum hoods. The problem is....so many diesel motors were replaced with standard sbc (due to reliability issues), its almost impossible to find!

I bought an 84 impala 9c1 beginning of this year for parts out of CT. Man...I'll tell ya...that thing was SUPER strip model. It had the rubber floor stuff (kinda like a cargo can), one piece heavy cover vinyl seat, super basic manual doors (they were rotted though), and a BUNCH of coolers.

Aside from the rust...the thing was pretty cool. Had some REAL big sway bars on it, but the kid that owned it swapped the rear decklid with the rpo codes so I wasn't able to check what it had for feature. The rear end was really the only thing I wanted (and the speedo)

Lol

Yeah right after they ran out of Plymouth Fury's.

P.S. Brandon, when you put that speedo in do you have to change the speed sensor?

there is different governor gears on the tailshaft of the trans for different rear end gear ratios for the speedo to read correctly. I never set mine up "correctly" lol until I installed the autometer setup.

yea...any trans shop. They come in different collors, they are just plastic gears. There is one little bolt that holds the bullet in place on the tail shaft assembly. It slides out, change the gear and voila.

The only thing is you are gunna have to try and figure out which color gear is for which gear ratio roughly and etc.

Hey people, check out this source here. This is where I got most of my 4L60 stuff from. Look around on this site because they are very generous with tons of helpful information too! . . . http://www.transmissioncenter.net/speedometer_calibration_______va.htm . . . also this page . . . http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4l60e.htm . there is a chart that calculates your gear selections.

Yeah I have a rebuilt 700R4, plan on a shift kit once the 350 makes its way under the hood.

Thanks for the info anyway though Arrow
I'll read up on it tomorrow and see if I can find exactly what I need before I buy a zillion things. Smile

Explore the whole site. They do have "much stuff" like that for all models and varieties of slush-boxes, Ooops, I meant to say Automatics!
