| I have read many threads on the big board about mufflers. But I am asking what guys here think.
I am looking for a 2 1/2", good flowing, some what quiet at idle, roars at WOT, and does not cost an arm and a leg.(Not more than $35ea)
Thanks |

| How about Summit welded chambered. They are only $1 more than the turbos. I was thinking I'd try them next time. | |

| The small Cherrybomb turbos I have on my car were less than 35 bucks a piece. Hard to tell what they will sound like woithout cats (mine are still there). They sounded awesome on friends small-block chevy cars | |

| Hmm...I'll chime in here as well...
I want something similar to what Billy is asking about, that you can roll by a cop without being too obvious, but you can hit it and scare small children... My build is starting to fall into "budget" status with my lack of income for the last 6 months, so I'm going to be looking for something similarly priced since I am going to have to throw good money for high flow cats. Also at that price if I do not like them after a year, I can rip them off and buy something else...

| I know I said $35 is my limit, but I can get stainless magnaflow mufflers for $66ea my cost. I have only heard magnaflows on commercials. I am not sure how they sound in the real world. |

| Chalk me up for mufflers as well...I'm definitely watching this thread.
My Impala has "relatively" new mufflers on it, I don't know what they are, pretty quiet but might be louder than stock, I don't know. The car is true duals and never had cats, so maybe that's why.
I'd like to throw something else in there in place of them just for a little more sound, looks like everything is clean enough for a bolt in.
A while ago I went with a friend to pick up a part for his BMW from a guy he met on a BMW forum, dude from the BMW forum showed up with one of his friends who had a 95ish DCM SS that he had just done the tranny and exhaust system on. I wonder if anyone here knows the guy. Anyway, he had what he said were Hooker Aerochambers on there, and it sounded great. Sort of quiet at idle, then loud when you got on it. I just don't know what it would sound like on my car compared to that one. I realize they're probably expensive but they seemed very well made, they were even painted or powdercoated or something, and apparently flow well because they're a straight through design.

| How DO you guys feel about Flowmasters? I've heard the good & the bad, but interested in what YOU GUYS think. I'm running them in the 96 & just took them out of Matts car (Lous put them in) Not trying to de-rail the thread so mix your opinion in with your replies to Bill M's | |

| There were flowmasters in the '84 but they just seemed too loud at idle. Later on they will end up in the 87 just because its a bolt in, but I'd like to do headers and a whole new system once I get rid of the 305. I would like to do electric cutouts and a modest muffler, but theats the expensive route so yeah... Bill if you get the summit turbos put up a video of how they sound because I want to have an idea of what to get for cheap. | |

| I have to find out what is on my newly acquired 9C1. They make a really nice rumble at idle and a very satisfying roar at WOT. | |

| My buddy just got some no-name muffler put on his 04-ish Silverado at Lou's. I don't know what it is, and he can't figure it out either, but it sounds almost Shelby AC Cobra ish compared to the previous flowmaster. I don't think I'll be going back to Lou's tho.
It always seems like Flowmasters rot out at the back end of the muffler, I also don't think I want them again.

| Actually, I have dynomax on the car now, and love the way they sound. Mellow at idle and cruise, yet have a nice and loud at WOT, and no anoying drone. So why change now that I will be going to a 2 1/2 exhaust? And they are only a few bucks more than what I had planned on spending, but I think worth it. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-17734/ |
