Been complaining forever that my car rides like a truck .My 94 Grand Cherookee actually rides better than the caprice. On the front are cheap monroes that were on the car when i bought the car like 3 years ago.The back had year old elcheapo shocks /$20 per/ which was all i could afford at the time and needed for inspection .I bought a low mile used set of monroe severe dutys last fall. I actually jacked the car up once and pulled the rear wheels and springs with the intention of putting them in. After 10 minutes of wrestling with the rusty top bolts i gave up.So today i decided to give it another shot, and now i feel like an IDIOT for not doing them sooner. The back ones where fairly easy with the springs out and the new bolts put in by the mechanic who installed the elcheapos.I used a small ratchet on the top bolts .On the drivers front i used the snap the head off method=Deep socket on the big ratchet and rock it back and forth. Was amazed how easily it broke ,I didn't get around to doing the left front yet as it looks like i need to move the ac evap to get a good angle. The old shocks are so bad that that the front one won't even come back out when pushed in.The rear driver side wasn't much better.
It actually took me longer to jack the car up and remove the wheels than it did to change the shocks.I can't wait to get the wheels back on to see how it rides .But i think i'm gonna leave it on the stands and take a shot a getting my exhaust installed and cleaning up da rust.Need to get the belly pretty in case someone sees it on mod day.
