Way to get moving!
I need to find some of your enthusiasm for my cars. I think you left it on the dyno. LOL no he just left the momentum there haha Thanks everyone, I will definitly be hitting some of the meets over the summer. Carb and intake will go on after I use the car for my senior prom. If there are any snags I want them to be AFTER I use the car for what I mainly need it for next weekend lol. Tires and camaro wheels are going on Monday morning! Can't wait to feel safe driving the thing! Soon It'll have throttle response AND be able to turn and not tip over.

But the biggets issue for now is just new tires, the old tiger paws are riddled with cracks from dry rotting and barely have any tread left

| The star adjusting wheel allows you to put the pads JUST BARELY touching the drums such that with pedal pressure (hydraulic) or emergency brake (mechanical) activation the pads make uniform, solid contact wit the drums. After cleaning up the internals, put the car up in the air (in N) install 1 drum from & have someone spin the other side. If you hear the pads contacting the drum your adjusted properly. If not, increase 1 clicl at a time (thru the hole in the drum) until you get the engagement. Remove that drum, install the other & repeat......DONE This is assuming you have good parts to begin with. Deep grooves in the drums wont let you take them on & off when contact is made. Adjust the same way, just skip the "remove" step | |

| Ya, that can happen. Thats why I thru the "good parts" in there. When I used to get that I'd sand (shape) the crap outta things until they seated properly. Squeak = vibration | |

How happy are you I couldn't stop smiling when I was cruising today! Perfectly aligned and new tires make it ride soooo much better and when I get out all I see is a white beautiful roof! - Matt Trakker wrote:

TELL ME ABOUT IT! Not to mention that it was basically a sponge since 1987! After the intake manifold and carb swap I'm done for the summer! I'll be out of money haha. ...But I know that isn't true! Needs a more free flowing exhaust...WITH HEADERS! lol

| Did a lot today before I realized I forgot to eat...at all....WHOOPS. After I almost passed out I ate, put the tools away and called it a night. I took the old intake and carb off and got everything out of the way and tagged with tape and labeled. Got the Edelbrock intake on and the distributor in but still need to torque the distributor hold down in all the way...seems impossible Need to get another brass fitting for the heater hose at the front of the intake manifold and then I have to get a new carb gasket cus I ripped mine somehow . Then I have to change the oil, fill the radiator back up, get all of the vaccum hooked up, and time for some sweeet burnouts that I haven't been able to do before! Pics to come once I'm done! | |

You have the special goosneck wrench? The one that reaches down under the distributor body to catch that bolt head? If not PM me

Now I just have to deal with my linkage hooking up the right way and all of that. And of course a few different vacuum issues that I'm sure I will run into once it gets going.

| Was it 9/16? I think I have 1/2 too, but if I remember correctly you'd need the 9/16. You should have it for when you fire up & time it. Let me know, I'll get it to you. | |

| When I swapped the distributor in my Blazer (pointlessly, it was the ign. module that VatoZone sold me that failed), I had to wedge some small craftsman box wrench or socket wrench or something that I had under the dist...it worked though. I actually bought the distributor hold down wrench from Sears and it hit the firewall of my truck so I couldn't use it! LOL
I think the trucks used a distributor that raised up higher above the intake though too...

Let me know, I'll get it to you. it was a 9/16, would have been painless with a gear wrench or that goose neck you mentioned. I might have to take you up on that offer though! - Matt Trakker wrote:

I think the trucks used a distributor that raised up higher above the intake though too... Haha, that sucks. I've been there. Buy tools and cant use them. Its really fun... Anyway, Almost done with it, need to get a brass nipple for the heater hose that runs to the front of the manifold, hook up my brake vacuum and other vacuum lines, and sort out the linkage issue I have. Then I'm all set!

| Ever get to that point when you just GIVE UP! I did, Had it towed to get timed by a friends dad. Had ZERO pride talking to him because I had to get it TOWED to a SHOP Hat when I do that. Anyway, for cheap money he timed it to 6* BTDC and it runs great and it gets down the road so much better than before. Still need to hook up the A/T kickdown but I'll take care of that in the morning. Thanks for all of the help from everyone, and that parts I needed Indy. Can't wait to bring it to the next meet! | |

| Last night I leaft a light maybe a little hard...snapped my mickey mouse connection throttle cable Wish me luck on rigging up a new one Edit: Now that I've done one Mr. Gasket throttle cable I could probably do ten more in the same amount of time it took today. Drives beautifully now. | |
