Water pump's not too bad. You could do it in the lot in an hour or so... Wink

One of the bolts is actually a nut on a stud that's a bolt. I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out why the pump wouldn't come out after I took off all the bolts and the nut. Then it dawned on me to actually look closer at the stud and I saw another hex head further down Laughing

Including that slip-up I had the pump swapped over including the temp sensor and thermostat in about an hour. That includes putting the belt back on and reconnecting the hoses. And that was my first time looking at one of those pumps. Not a difficult job.

Is it just me or does the opti seem to be in a bad space, what with all the potential for getting soaked with water/coolant. Last I checked, water and electrics dont mix. No

Pretty sure that that's what you'd call an "engineered failure" right there. Last long enough to get out of warranty, and then gets the service department or sales floor more work when it goes. Wink

Gen 2's have a handfull of design flaws. That's why the head design is the only thing that carried over to the next generation.

Yeah, you won't see any difference with the 160 thermostat unless you program the fans to come on sooner. My Impala ran about 170-175 all day long in the summer with that set up.

Yeh, VW/Audi are no different, as are Nissan and Toyota.

You need a tune to take full advantage of a 160 ts. Timing and fans.

EDIT: I see Mr C. has already posted. Wink
