If you had the oportunity to trade a 96 SS with 150K for a 95 wagon with no rust and 48K, would you do it?

Not just yes. But HELL YES. Then again, I like wagons a bit more than sedans.

I think I would need more details; but from what you said 150 K versus 48 K and no rust, I would be leaning towards the wagon. Although I have to admit to not being impartial.

The impala is more rare than a wagon back in 96, but in 2010, a rust free 48k wagon is by far the rarest, as it was not thought of as a collectable like the ss. So yes, the wagon is the way to go. Arrow

I'm on an island with this one. I'd replace all the ss trim parts (molding, console/shifter, guages, etc) with caprice parts and use the money to buy a wagon. Then I'd have both cheers

I would pass on the wagon but tell your buddies who has it and maybe the owner could be persuaded to sell it. Dibs!

Seriously can you just buy the wagon and keep the SS or is it trade only?

Yes! Effin' DO IT already!!!!!! Very Happy

I have way more love for the wagons than the sedans anyways. Hell I just sold MY impala to concentrate on my wagon! They are just as responsive to mods and are a hell of a lot more useful!

JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!

So I only have a cell phone pic of the wagon, and it's not uploaded yet.

95 Caprice wagon. Marblehead Metalic (grey) grey interior. Not a woody. Has wire wheel ("deluxe" yeah right) wheel covers. Under 50k miles. No rust on painted parts of the car. Underside has been "rustproofed" (loooked like truck bed liner) over scaly rust (sealing rust in? that can't be good). Small tear in rear bumper cover.

Interior was cloth, long door pulls on the doors, and driver and passenger seats (also power windows.

Price on the car is $4995

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our car (whitch is also for sale, by the way) is a BBB 96 Impala SS. 145K +/- miles. Texas car with NO RUST on painted or unpainted surfaces. Has not been driven in a Maine winter.

Standard options plus:
Flash to pass headlight switch, Auxillary 12v outlet in 9C1 location (next to ashtray), In dash cassette with 12 disk CD changer in trunk, Green silicone 9C1 hoses (all of them) and throttle body bypass mod, Cadillac Fleetwood rear seat floor ducts.

Paint is starting to flake off the spoiler Sad

We'd like to see $6K for our car, but would be willing to make a deal for a forum member.

Aparently the guy on the sales lot wasn't interested in a trade. I figued a WX3 would be easier to sell, but he is scared of the milage.

What he said, my experience is that a lot of used car dealers will "undercoat" a car with that stuff to hide things they don't want you to see. A closer inspection may even find holes covered with it...

Sounds like a fair price you are asking for your car, but the market is hard for these cars now, especially with 150K+ miles. I would not be scared of it, but many would.

Good luck in your searches. Much cleaner wagons can be found for half what that place is asking with around 100K miles...

Doug
