| Well after going to different specialists and thousands of tests I finally got a somewhat diagnosis on Monday. The latest muscle biopsy (last april) showed pretty much what was expected which allowed for a new name to be assigned to my condition. It's not a deffinitive diagnosis since the test that shows the exact genetic issue can't be done anytime soon. As far as my medical records are concerned I officially have a form of "limb girdle muscular dystrophy". After doing some reading up on it that diagnosis seems to fit pretty well. The only way to prove which version I have involves genetic testing which MassHealth won't cover, but it really doesn't matter. All the forms are treated the same way. Do as much as you can without doing too much I've been sick since I was 15 and have been on disability since I was about 17. That's why I have a nice 10 year gap in my work history But now with this new diagnosis everything will be.......exactly as it was before As of this moment all my buddies can tell cripple jokes and when people get offended you can just say that one of your close friends has muscular dystrophy so it's ok Same as when I make fun of Rich and it's ok because he's a minority Like how I snuck that one in there Rich I wonder if this means I get to meet Jerry Lewis This should be my new avatar huh | |

Christ I'm going home to drink. I'm not Christ, but I'll pass along your sentiment I had to do it. It's not everyday someone gives you a setup like that. We should go on tour

| Damn dude, I was wondering what your issue was Glad to hear you have a "diagnosis" so you can tell people that you are legitimately handicapped and not just a guy who uses a cane as a fashion statement. Also, whenever I think of you I think of this episode of New Radio...it KILLS me. LOL http://www.hulu.com/watch/7330/newsradio-the-cane "Beautiful day out there. Perfect cane weather." - Bill McNeil | |

| My old diagnosis was polymyositis which seemed to fit at the time. The progression didn't fit though and as time went on it seemed less likely that that was the actual disease. As medical science advances more conditions are discovered and researched and a more accurite diagnosis can be made. That's why after the second muscle biopsy and a bunch more testing they found a condition that fit and one that the original doctors didn't know about because it wasn't known of at the time. I was hoping to get a diagnosis that was easy to spell, but alas, I am doomed to spellcheck for a while longer And Doug, any weather is good cane weather if you have a sturdy rubber cup on the bottom. Plus mine was left to me when my grandfather died which was both fortunate and kinda forshadowing in a strange way | |

| All kidding aside Brad. I wish you were fine, but since you are not, it is at least good that the doctors having an idea of what is wrong means that you can get the correct treatment.
I was born with an acute case of CP, kiddney issues and a birth weight of just 3lbs, 6oz, and with operations, and corrective shoes as a child, I have been able to live a normal life. And this is what was believed to cause my legs to grow short, and my back hurts every day, so I understand the pain you have, but a guy your age should not have this kind of pain.

Guess it depends if you accessorize. Add a cane & it becomes a fashion statement

| Stupid used to be a disease. Then they reclassified it as "learningly challenged" Dumb has always been a disease since it means lacking the ability to speak Being fat is just a genetic trait that most americans share. It's like how many people from ireland are gingers. I always say I have no problems with stupid people. It's the ignorant ones that piss me off. stupid - "dull in mind" (the slow kid in class) ignorant - "lack in knowledge" (the guy in the beamer who runs red lights) | |
