Correct size, wrong tire. They were BFGoodrich 255/50/ZR17 Comp T/As. They were the only tires in that size at the time, and had a multi tread patern. I only remember because it was the first and only time I paid $185 per tire for 4 tires after burning the first set off in under 20k miles. Mad

There are much better tires for less money out there. But the kdws's are the only BFG's now available in that size.

(but they suck!)

Bill is correct. If you are going to buy new tires, go with Kumho's. They have been around and have good feedback from the national forum. I have Falkens which are about as cheap as you can get in that size, and like them, at $108 each shipped through Discounttiredirect.com. But I have not had them long enough to give you a complete opinion.

Maybe the larger Impala tire is different, but my VW had 15" Kumho's and they were shit. By far the worse tire i've ever owned, noisy shit in the snow, would slide in rain at any speed above 5.

I had BFG's on my wagon and they were the worst tires I ever drove on. I thought the car was fked up, but as soon as I swapped the tires it drove great.

The 255/50/17 of the BFG size is pretty notorious for having poor grip, and a great tendency to follow every groove on the road. There are MUCH better tires out there for the money.
