Can you remove the oil filter on an LT1 without draining and not lose a lot of oil?

Well most of the oil is in the pan, and there's no way for it to get to the filter without it running, so I think you'd maybe only lose what's in the filter and what may drip down out of the oil cooler lines...

Why? Question

The filter holds about a quart of oil so you'll be a quart low when you put the new filter on.

Yes you can. i wouldn't recomend it though. The crowbars used to dismount the tire would damage the fender.

Close enough Laughing

If it went on without binding and isn't leaking then it probably fits. Many of the filter options are based on size/shape/capacity so they're somewhat interchangable.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?

Remove the filter.
Dump oil within it into the new filter.
Start er up, shut er down.
Check & add.
This assumes that the above can be done without bringing dirt & grime into the picture.
