Took the jeep to Mass on Monday .Cruising at 75 engine shuts down/backfires /
managed to get to the ramp .AAA comes. Can't tow it without a flatbed.Full time 4 wheel drive.
none available to go to Maine They tow us to BJ s . 5 HOURS LATER . affraid truck shows up .
So it did the same thing last month.I changed the coil
and it ran great.
I'm pretty sure it's the coil again but i need to figure out why the coils are going bad .
ANYONE GOT EXPERIENCE WITH ANYTHING LIKE THIS ??
Side note i installed a brand new muffler and tailpipe.

The chevy is about to go to sleep for the winter.
So I'm trying to get the jeep to quit eating coils.
I am now on coil #5.Thank god for warranties.
It was suggested that it might be the camshaft sensor.
It's mounted under the cap and rotor.
I had changed the cap and rotor earlier so i THOUGHT
It would be an easy job. NOT.
Did you know that you can put a cap on backwards Suspect
After a trip to the parts store for another rotor.
I got it running again.
I'll be driving with a spare coil till i'm sure i've cured the problem.
I've got the coil changeouts down to about 2 minutes LOL.

Camshaft Sensor Notice the round tab and square tab DUH

My guess would be it's going to run a little rough with that rotor

Last but not least the shiny new WARRANTIED muffler. Laughing

I can see your disgusted impression in the reflection of the glass...lol

My friend did some work on a newer Wrangler that was eating coils, I'll ask him what the problem turned out to be, but I remember him mentioning a camshaft sensor...
