im going to be putting my new aluminum heads on my roadie. and i dont know a thing i should do. or what to buy for parts. id like to put in a cam, valve springs. but im not going to touch the bottom end. the motor has 71k for miles. and i have never even spun a tire on it . even with 4.11 gears and a t56. well maybe once at last years fall round up. i know theres a lot of smart people here on the forum. im asking for help. anything for info is more then i know. just steer me in the right direction. ill have to pay some one to do the work. ill have all the parts. if you guys help me out. Embarassed

If you're not doing a cam and headers and stuff, there's really no point in doing a set of heads. It makes more sense to just upgrade your valvesprings and go with a set of roller rockers. It'll be a lot more cost effective AND you'll gain a few more revs for your bangin' pleasure. Wink That can all be done with the heads still in place and will cost a LOT less for Labor.

Comp Pro-Magnum 1.6 Roller Rockers and a set of GM Beehive springs would do nicely.
What Bill said. The only gain from stock aluminum heads is a weight savings.

billy i want to do a cam, and the headers will maybe be cia. lot of money. i still have all you had posted once for the afterburner items on my wish list. im looking for items and i guess to know part numbers. billy i dont know jack sht about this stuff. i need help. Embarassed

aluminum heads are not really an upgrade unless their ported

I'll do them for you Ron Smile But I didn't save much when I did mine after going to the machine shop
for new valves and a valve job $600 then add for springs and retainers $300+- you can get LE 2 heads for $1300
or LE 1 for $800

hi tom. long time since ive talked to you. i took your advice and fixed my leak. on the wind shield. no leaks. but i had to use the flowable from auto geek. Very Happy

ok. this is what im going to do. the valve springs. roller rockers. and some day when i have the money. headers. that will be the end of it. damn thing is hard enought on mileage now. lol!
