| What would you guys consider a tubular trans crossmember as? Is it a much needed chassis upgrade? Is it just a novelty item? Is it something in between? I'd like to get some ideas before I spend money I don't have on one. | |

| I do not consider this a chassis upgrade. I dont think you are going to bolt this on and see amazing improvements in handling.
The only real reason to install the tubular transmission crossmember is if you are trying to install a large diameter exhaust system. Since it is tubular, it is much tighter in overall diameter and can except a much larger dual exhaust system without clearance issues...
So in short, unless you need more exhaust flow, or you are worried about clearance issues with your current exhaust...its more of a dress item than anything....

| Brad the major benefits for a tubular cross member is as mentioned room for exhaust to pass by, but also to shed weight, make it easy to get out for trans removal, changing the type of transmission like a six speed or a different type of auto. |

| So just wait until I put together the rest of the exhaust and do it then. I can handle that I guess.
I just didn't know if the trans member had as much flex in it as the control arms and such. I'd rather not end up with frame issues like some of us have run into before with these cars.

| R&R of a stock cross member is such a bitch, it's worth buying a tubular anytime the stock one has to be removed, but not unless. IMO of course.... | |

| Only reason i bought one for the t56 is because i couldn't fab the stock one, other than that, i think the money i spent wasn't worth it. If you can mod the stocker and call it good. | |
