| I am getting VERY fed up with hearing about Clear Image, Focustech, and Street Trends all charging customers for items that are not in stock, then customers waiting MONTHS for items that they have already paid for. It does not matter if it is someone else's fault, they are moving, missing people; if they have not shipped you the item they should not have your money! There is no excuse.
I work in mail order, and am actually in the process of buying the company that I work for (Snowmobile/ATV parts), and to be perfectly honest I can't imagine charging one of my customers for an item that is not in stock. It is not illegal, but it is unethical to me. If an item is out of stock the customer's card number gets held and the item only gets charged when it is ready to ship.
Once I take over ownership of the company I would seriously consider getting into the B-body parts game because it sounds like my customer service is light years ahead of these jokers. I already have plans to pickup Keystone as a supplier to broaden the business a bit and sell auto accessories. (the margins suck, but it is a springboard into it)
I would need to dig deep and find out who is making these parts for them and if I can get my hands on some of them, so I might need help with that kind of thing.
What would the thoughts be on that?

| Here's where he gets his crossmembers from http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/index.shtml
The exhaust he basically house builds one at a time when he feels like it. I'd say get a good deal going with flowtech for the headers and pypes for the rest.

| yup, I know about them, I am going to get right on them first if I decide to do this. I hate shipping bit items, but it could do a good start.

| how much money are you willing to tie up in stock that might sit for months or years ? on the crossmembers you can get the 4L60 one's from Mike H and if you send him a T56 crossmember I'm sure he could copy them. what I don't like is all these suspension kits that sell Chinese balljoints and tierods ect. they should just sell moog. focustech get his headers from Stans | |

| I agree with doug, just tell me you don't have the damn thing. I can't say much on shipping, i'm not much better than most. I work so much its hard for me to ship parts, but i NEVER take money untill the part is ready.
Good luck Doug, i'd buy all my stuff from you in a heartbeat.

| When you get your things in order you know what I'm looking for. None of this 4l60e crap either I'd say start out just trying to work a deal selling pieces that are in high demand but hard to find. Like quarter panel patch pieces. Then expand into other areas as you become more profitable. | |

| I have some times thought about this. When things were good, these companies stocked items, or had them on their way. But since things have slowed down, it seems like they are taking money from the customer first, then placing their order with their suppliers once they have enough orders. This could take a weeks, even months. Or they just have crappy customer service. Either way it is bad buisness. |

| I'm just throwing it out there right now and it may not happen for a year or maybe ever, but honestly it is ridiculous all the things I have been hearing and I kind of feel like I would be in the position soon to do something about it.

I'll tell you what, if I could find someone to make me the 1/4 panels I would invest a bit of money into it because that would be HUGE. I just have no idea who would have the ability to make that.... | Contact a company that stamps metal such as those who supply fenders and such for trailers. Who ever your supplier is for those type parts should be a good lead to follow. Then see how much it would run for them to stamp out quarter panel pieces using some of your scrap car ones as a guide. If the price ends up being less than Year-one charges then you are in business.

| I would love to find the stamp molds, can you imagine the money you could make. Got to be someone out there that can make a stamp mold for the outers, the inners would be pretty easy. | |

| I may be able to track down some companies that can be of service. Give me a couple weeks and I'll see what I can come up with. If the pricing comes out half way decent then I'll pass all the info onto Doug and he can take it from there. | |
