| Subject: April 18th - Official First Mod Day of 2010 Wed Mar 24, 2010 9:42 pm | |
| The first mod day of 2010 will be at my place in Walpole, NH on April 18th with the 25th as a rain day. I have room for 2 cars in the garage, 3 or 4 in front of the garage, and 4 or so around the corner. The two in the garage could be working on under car things (yes I do have a lift now), the driveway is sure-pack, so anyone is welcome to work on whatever they want out there, but likely crawling under the car will be a pain. On top of all that I have a fairly long driveway with extra parking and a landing at the bottom, so there will be plenty of parking.
If people want to bring chips, soda, and maybe a veggie platter or something for you veggie eaters that would be great. I will supply a grill with burgers and wieners. Also if anyone has bag chairs or similar and wants to bring a few that would be great, I have about 4 stools and a couple plastics chairs but that is about it.
The address is: 280 Vally Rd. Walpole, NH 03608
Wives, girlfriends, and boyfriends are all welcome, we will do our best to entertain them. I have radio and will have full cable TV set up in the garage this weekend, so that might help.
It is recommended that you bring whatever tools you think you will need for a project. I have a couple sets of jackstands, a decent array of air tools, and most hand tools, but I am pretty anal about my hand tools so I suggest you bring your own wrenches and such if possible.
Anything else I am missing here guys? I'm not going to keep track of how many people are coming, because I should have plenty of room, but just post up if you think you can make it so we all know. If you have a specific mod in mind post it up so we know what we are up against.
I think I will be tearing into the under hood of my 96 to clean it up and repaint it, but that will be very leisurely, so I will be all over the place helping out.

| Count me in. If anyone needs extra jack stands I have a pair I can snag from home as well as a few air tools.
I have a few things I wanna try and get done if anyone has the tools:
I'd like to patch those two rust spots on the wheel wells with new sheet metal. I'll bring the metal, if anyone has a portable welder? (Do you have one Pooge?)
The tailgate popper on the dash doesn't work, id like to poke around on that
Oh and if we could throw my wagon on the lift I wanna check the frame better than just me crawling under it, i'd appreciate that.
Thats it for me for now. | |

| I'm planning on making it. Looks like my medical stuff shouldn't be an issue so unless something major comes up count me in. Billy may be doing my body work since he's planning on bringing his welder and such. Also I have a bit of a project that could use some helping hands (suspension/brakes). I'm planning on at the very least trying not to disable my car or myself while still making as much noise and mess as possible | |

Depends on the beer.... In all reality though I don't think I have ever seen beer at an event, most likely because everyone has to drive to and from....That being said, since it is my house I should be able to get plenty toasted...LOL Doug

| Well.. Figured out what caused the rust in the wheel wells. Its either the roof rack or the window seals. Anyone know how to correct the roof rack issue, if thats the cause? I figure all that rust patching will be worthless it water just gets in there again... | |

| All these cars rot out there. The bottom of the quarter has a shelf that catches all the road grime/salt/water and holds it there. If you can feel the rot from the wheelwell then the shelf is the most likely issue. If a window leak is causing it then you'll find the rot on the inside of the car behind the plastic panels. | |

I think it's either the shelf or the window. Im inclined to say its the shelf. Because if you remove the left wheelwell cover, there would sometimes be a puddle that starts closer to the tire. and gets smaller as it gets closer to the tailgate.

| Sounds about right. That's the reason everyone here was looking for quarters. Someday someone will figure out that you can cut that shelf off and it would eliminate the issue and wouldn't even be a visible change unless you were under the car looking right at it | |

| I have some sheet metal. How much do you need? and for what?
You should alway bring your own hand tools for what you are planning to do, and the mods or repairs you choose should be able to be completed within the day, and not be undrivable at the end of the day.

Patching both wheel wells in the wagon. One rust spot is about 1' long x 2" tall the second is about half that. Not sure on specifics, but I can measure both tomorrow. - IMPALADAKID wrote:

That shouldnt be a problem either. If someone wants to do (or show me how to do) that patching for me it'd be much appreciated (never welded anything... ever). That's about all I really need done, I may poke around with that tailgate popper. But i'll also be willing to help out with anything else anyone is doing. Or staying out of the way. I don't think I would try and tackle that unless you know you can get it done. That will definately dead end you. |
