Let's have a special mod day for rich's Car.
We'll all work on something till it's roadworthy.
There really isn't any reason these cars can't be reliable,Just need to take care of the big stuff.
Make a list Rich of what you think you need to make the car reliable.
Attack one thing at a time.

Why spend so much on another car? I passed on one for $650 and snagged a nice one for $450. $600 is far too much to pay for a beater car. Just buy Matt's brothers car for like $450 and then patch it up Wink

Wow, I'd really hate to see you get rid of it! Unfortunately as any car ages and gets into the higher mileage there will be more "routine" maintenance. It never gave me any troubles, but I was only putting 3K miles a year on it at the most. I did go through it every spring after taking it out of storage and put about $500 a year into fixing little things...

I wish you luck with it, and I hope you don't have to get rid of it...most of the major stuff has been covered by both of us in the last year or two, so there can't be much more PITA stuff to do...

I dunno, after finding the white Caprice, I almost would never buy another beater that needs even a few things fixed on it, aside from stuff like non-working AC or whatever...sometimes you spend a couple hundred more bucks and you save a ton of money in repairs. At the same time you gotta factor in insurance and other costs of putting it on the road. My ins. on the Caprice is like 388 for a whole year now...

There's a Pontiac Parisienne on CL now for like 450 bucks that didn't sound bad, but no pics. Hard to go wrong at that price if it runs and drives nice.

http://worcester.craigslist.org/cto/1617209909.html

My brothers car I'd recommend against...I honestly think you could find a nice rust free driver for less, I'd call this one a parts car, since I already started taking parts off it. Probably going to scrap the car in a few weeks, trying to get rid of stuff around here! Laughing

Boxy Caprice, or just another B-body? Hint hint.

I was going to take the header and tail panels and try to get the mirrors off this thing, I think someone might want all that stuff. I'm just afraid the junk man wouldn't want to pay anything for the car, I hear some places are paying like 250-300 bucks for junk cars if they're bigger like this. Probably taking the new radiator out of it today.

Around here the price has bounced around alot over the past year. It's been anywhere from $90 to $140 per ton. That's if you drive it there. If they pick it up then they subtract their towing fee off the top.

Where's the leak? If it's at a connector point then it may just be a matter of unhooking it and pushing it back in fully to engage the clips. There are very few spots on the fuel line that should be able to leak without physical damage.

Sounds like we need to schedule a mod day quick so that people can work on Rich's car from end to end. When the teams meet in the middle we'll have ourselves a tunnel.......I mean a working car Laughing

Can't be too bad since it's all stuff that I've done myself and I'm deffinetly not a mechanic.

don't drive it with a fuel leak unless you have fire & theft insurance LOL

there should be O-rings inside the connectors

If I had a dollar for every time I said that. Rich, just take a deep breath, and get yourself an inexpensive beater car. I learned the hard way that selling when your angry will have you regreting your decision for a long time. Besides, you have a good one. Just sounds like it needs some work to bring it up to DD status. Very Happy

its just frustrating Crying or Very sad . but good weather is here i would be able to do a couple of things hear and there..

also looks like i need a new coolant tank( i have one of those). whenever i give it gas some squirts out of the second hole where the hose connects.. so looks like since i have the drain coolant again i might as well do the heater core at the same time

How many repairs do you need to get it tip-top?
If someone WANTS it mention all the details both mods and repair items, just a thought since I had been through a sale where I had a few things in question of the car leading them to call me repeatedly after it was said and done.
I have been through the "sell the f*cker NOW" before with a few cars and this one I have now...at the same time think if it's gone would you always kick yourself letting it go etc? I usually put that into consideration.

yea im going to let it go . i just need a New ans Safe car. The SS just cut out on me the other day while i was driving and i had my son in the car. but i figured what it was. it was the wires(orange and blk) that conect to the connector that goes into the the coil. i fixed it but i think im just going to go finance.. SOOOO

94 Impala ss
174XXX
4.10 gears
Detroit True-Track

WHAT IT NEEDS:

connector to coil
fuel sending unit(guage does not work)

$5500 firm **will throw in vogtland lowering springs and flowtech afterburner headers( with percys gaskets and bolts) for an additional $350

Come over to the dark side Rich.

Boxies have less sensors and don't experience nearly as much of those electrical issues. Plus they're easier to track down and fix if one should pop up. Not to mention you get to keep the size and safety of your current car AND all of those nice suspension parts will swap over too Wink

You know you want to keep playing with the cool cars. Why give up on a line when it's only the last few years of it that are problematic Wink
