| I posted it in the correct thread Bill. I'm working that day so traveling is a no go. Cant say no to a good pay check. I'm pretty bummed, believe me, but there's next year. Gotta do what's best for the family. And that's putting money away. | |

| Tomorrow after I come back from the junk yard I may end up doing some paint! Passenger side all the way to the green is 99% bodywork done. Tail gate needs plate and light shaved, D pillar needs to be welded to the quarters, bottoms of the quarters need to be closed up and a few rust spots need repair. Tomorrow is a cutting day at the yard. . No final paint this year but it WILL be in light grey primer by Monday.

| Nothing I my price range for 56 caddy's.
I got a step side truck roll pan with a plate spot that I might try and cut out and work in, looked at a few pics of the 57 alter nomad and looks like he did the 57 bumper straight across. so might use something that goes straight across. I'd like it to tie back into the b-body as well. If I use a 56 chevy bumper I feel it would be too much like the original 56 car. I'd also like to try and do something more custom with the front bumper too.

| Thanks man. I had no idea how to register the car in my name in CA, but before I said anything, the guy selling it offered to help me out with the whole thing. Even brought it to get painted in San Diego for me. When I got my MA vet plates I was waiting for something in the mail from Cali asking for their plates back. What's even cooler, is the car was already smogged from when the guy bought it from auction earlier in the year. Unlike MA or RI the inspection stays with the car and doesn't have to be done with every new owner.
I kept my Monte Carlo SS registered with MA plates in Cali. In order to get a base government registration assignment and stickers however, my '87 model year car was expected to pass smog testing. It barely passed in MA (back when you had to do it). Needless to say, I got a base sticker. I showed the dummy PMO kid at the gate my MA inspection sheet. He says "that's the same thing, right?" Well, if YOU are asking ME, you bet your ass it is ;D

| Here's some quick crappy ones I took today, and the car isn't clean, lol. I really need to look into shining up those rear exhaust pipes. Have to try some kind of stripper to get the black stuff off and then maybe steel wool and polish on a Powerball? | |

| Looking good, Matt! Still the best color SS.
For the tail pipes, idk how bad yours are, but mine sat from September-ish until march, driven from march until about 2 weeks ago I cleaned them. They literally had tar and all kinds of shit stuck to them. I soaked them with armor all spray, wiped them with a shop rag, then armor all wipes, and then I used a micro fiber towel sorta like you'd shine the tip of a shoe, or a bowling ball, or your unmentionables with a towel. Came out perfect! A couple car washes in between and we're still shining!

| Yea, the pipes have some kind of black undercoat sprayed about a foot back, probably to deal with rocks being kicked up by the wheels. I think they'd look cool just all polished the complete length of them, like Brian's car.
That 79 Caprice looks like it might have no engine in it! That's a slick looking ride. Chris that Caprice looks really damn clean, good buy right there!

| Looks good Tim, how did the 303 hold up? I just did all the black plastic trim on my Tahoe with it and it restored it back from starting to turn gray...did it once when I first bought it and it seemed to last quite a long time... Took this at the Danvers cah show the other night... I believe that for years the C-body Cadillacs had the steering parts mounted aft of the front wheels, so the front wheels were always much further forward than all the other GM passenger models. Kinda funny seeing the two identical windshields and trim and then that big discrepancy at the same time. | |
