| Ok, so as far as I know, the Impala SS is actually a Caprice with a special RPO code denoting the Impala SS trim package and related options (WX3). So does that mean on your title the car would be listed as a Caprice 4d sedan? If so, does that mean insurance costs are pretty low considering the circumstances? Furthermore, if an SS gets in an accident, is it a pain trying to have insurance pay out for damages because they are trying to say it's "just a Caprice"? Just wondering, I just got my insurance premium printout thing today in the mail, my damn insurance for the entire year on the white Caprice is like 388 bucks... | |

| My Impala is titled as a Caprice but is most definately insured as an Impala. Ownership costs are the same though. And both require the same "mod money" bank account. | |

| I have nothing to add, but to agree with everyone else. Parts replacement cost is the same. Like the caprice grill is about the same price as an ss grill, and so on. And both impalas I have had (one new, one very used) we titled as caprice, with WX3 being an option package. My grand national was the same way. It was titled as a Regal. You can insure as an impala. This will alow in case of a total loss that you get the true value, and not the lower caprice value. |

Yeah, that's what I was really wondering about...I didn't know what the deal was with how they valued the car (I'm no insurance expert, I just know that certain cars require an astronomical amount of money to insure...), if you had to go out of your way to let them know "this isn't just a Caprice" and so on...

| I think you would be better going with a collector car insurance, but that is just me. |

Not neccessary. I have MetLife. And they paid out a claim on my Impala no problem. I just told them it was an Impala when I put it on the policy.
