Trying to find a new car Empty
PostSubject: Trying to find a new car   Trying to find a new car EmptyTue Jan 05, 2010 11:30 pm

So far I've been SOL as far as finding a replacement for my car. I've either lost contact with the sellers, or find cars that need too much work, or in the case of one car it's just flat out too far away (4 hour drive). If anyone knows about a boxy b-body for sale (77-90) preferably with a 350 in it but will settle for a 305, for $1k or less, shoot it my way. I've already checked into everyone on Cragslist for every region of New England going back a month and most are dead-ends.

There is one for sale in Norton. Its blue, probably an '88 or '89. A little custom stuff done to it looks like. I can swing by and get the name and number. I have pictures that I can email you if you want to shoot that to me...

Probably right on 123. That makes finding it real easy.

Both sound interesting.

I almost had an 88 wagon but I was going up there to get it this weekend and it sold yesterday.

I found an old Impala that looks good but it's in castleton, vt and I can't drive that far to check it out.

I also passed up a 91 Custom Cruiser because it has blown brakes.

I'm hoping to get my hands on another car I found a couple weeks ago but the guy is slow getting back to me.

If you happen to go by can you grab the price for me? No need to make a special trip. I'm still waiting to collect the rest of the money from Billy's car right now so I can't jump on anything tomorrow. I just want to be in contact with the good cars in this area so that as soon as I have the money I can run right over and grab the car that strikes my fancy.

I'm staying up in Randolph for a little bit so I'm not right down the street from you for a few more days.

I love those, they always remind me of an 80s movie detective vehicle.

That would be awesome with a new paint job in the original color, and cop poverty caps. afro

Dually agreed. I kick myself in the ass (from time to time)for getting rid of all the late 80's police package cars I ever had...even the Crown Victoria... Sad You can't go wrong with a set of shiny dog dish hub caps. I bought a set of baby moons from Mr. gasket for my 9C1, but never got the wheels to mount them... now they collect dust in the basement...like everything else

I've been eyeing that car for a month now. I can't physically do brake line work right now though. Otherwise I would have gone to check out that one as well as a few others, including a couple Custom Cruiser wagons. I'm better off with doing work that involves interior or even engine. There's just no way I can lay under a car right now.

Yeah, I hear ya'. I HATE workin on/fixin cars in the tundra of N.E. My'94's tail pipe was hanging, because the resinator rusted in half, for like a month.I just took care of it on thursday. it looked funny drivinig around with the rez. hangin down. ANYWAY, I called the guy in Norton for you, the guy wants, get this, $3,200. Mostly because of the alarm system ans "extra" parts. It's only a 305 too. Decent no rust but toooooooo much money I think...

Thanks for checkin though. It's amazing how much some people expect to get for cars. I've seen ads for the exact same kind of car where one is in worst condition but triple the price of the other.

No problem, I will still keep an cyclops out! I agree tho, it's all too common for someone to ask two or three times the amount its REALLY worth. Otherwise, we wouldn't be tire kicking...It's kind of funny how I called it too. Props to me. Laughing

This is on the back burner for me for a month or so. It's funny how being homeless makes for very little time with car hunting. I figure once I have a new address then I'll be able to start looking again. Also the registry and insurance companies don't like to use p.o. boxes as your official address Laughing

Buy Paul's wagon. Both problems solved. Wink

I've only collected $500 from everyone so far. I can't afford to buy Pauls wagon right now. Once I move into a new place and get all the associated moving costs paid off then I'll know exactly how much I have available for a car. Hopefully my new living situation allows me a little more play money per month. It'd be nice to have cable tv again Laughing
