I was wondering what wiring would be used from the factory lt1 engine harness to run the fuel injection. This has nothing to do with the ignition or trans, but just the fuel system itself. Let's make a list.

injectors
fuel pump
maf (unless speed density)
o2's
some kind of crank/cam sensor
tps

Then I draw a blank after that point.

IAT (air temp)
Oil Pressure ???

You lost me on the IAC and ECT.
I'm assuming those are the idle air valve and coolant temp sensor.

What does the pcm use for the crank trigger? I'm assuming it's a signal from the opti. If so does anyone know what the sensor used on the tbi/tpi engines is?

Brad
You keep talking about eliminating systems in your car. Going to manual seats, wanting to get rid of reverse flow cooling, and so on. Why not just sell the car for something older that does not have these systems? I for one like like the opti system, and feel it does a good job, and is fairly reliable system. Same goes for the RF cooling system. It is a good system.

Remember the old Charlie Brown shows when the teacher (or parents) talked to the kids?

All they heard was...... Wooaahhh,Wooaahh,Wooaahh....

I'm pretty sure that what Brads hears whenever someone tries to squash his creativity

Buy my car if you like it so much. Then you can install whatever you like Razz

I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need to swap my fuel injection onto the Olds. I can run a stock FI system from a seville, but I'd rather not bother since it's an analog batch fire system that doesn't support much power and would rely on a 30 year old ecm. An aftermarket FI setup would run at least a grand which is out of my budget. That's why I need to get the LT1 system down to the absolute minimum so that I can swap it all over. My sticking point seems to be the crank trigger which most people overcome by running the tpi system. I'd like to avoid batch fire though. I'm looking at having an edelbrock intake drilled out for injectors and then gutting a throttle body for air control as well as a mounting point for the sensors and linkages.

I've been looking at the efi connection setup for a year now. The price with everything needed to make it work though is through the roof.

I e-mailed eficonnection to see if it would be possible to mount their crank sensor to an Olds crank and use the vortec dizzy for the cam sensor. If they say it'll work I may go FI and DIS all at once. Of course I'll have to save my pennies and search the junkyards for the parts I need, but it'd be worth it.
