| There is a complete T/A with a T56 available that I would love to go get tomorrow, but it is a 93 and I am not well versed on them as a swap tranny in a B body. I understand they are geared different and rated for a bit less HP, but I'm wondering if anyone has any real world experience?
This would be going into a box Caprice project. From what I have read 3.73 gears is the way to go, but will this thing stand up to a healthy 350-375 HP LT1? I want a fast 0-60 and could care less about anything after that, other than that the 3.73 and 6 speed should work out to pretty nice highway cruising mileage...
Thanks,
Doug | |

| It has a lower torque rating, but has a desirable gearset IF it is the optional M29 93-only tranny. It's 3.73-friendly, too. So you most likely won't have to worry about vibrations. Either way, I would run one in my shit. | |

| There were two different trannys for '93. I found this: 1993 Manual/M28 3.36 2.07 1.35 1.00 0.80 0.62 1993 Manual/M29 2.97 2.07 1.43 1.00 0.80 0.62 1994 Manual/MN6 2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.74 0.50 I'll leave it up to the reader to determine what the casting numbers are for each. If it's a good price grab it! | |

| Thanks guys, so what is the deal with the M28? Assuming it is not the M29 is it worth my time?
I assume M29 would be on the spid label? Am I correct to assume it is on the trunk on these like our cars?

| Yes M29 or M28 should be on the SPID label.
If you decide to pass let me know. I'd also risk the lower torque rating. 'sides I have some other lighter weight projects in mind.
